My ‘21 does it and so did my ‘18. I always thought turbo noise. Never been an issue for me.
Same here. My '18 was a 2.7 EB FX4 super crew with the 3.73 rear diff. My '21 is a 3.5 EB FX4 super crew with the 3.31 rear diff. Never had any issues with the '18 so I'm not really concerned about the '21 now either. Since my motors were different it seems like it has to be something common bolted to them, like the alternator as someone mentioned, or the tranny. There were times the '18 quieted down at idle so the alternator makes more sense to me because I would think it can be adjusted by the PCM or some other module to charge more or less depending on the battery and draw from it at the time.

Just got the truck back from the dealership. Service said that sound is a result of the new 10 speed transmission but they have had a lot of people question the sound

My brand spanking new 2022 Lariat does this. Still no word from Ford? Anyone have new information?

Mine has 3500 miles on it and has made that same high pitch whine since I picked it up with 12 miles. No idea what it is, and does sleet up when I blip the throttle too.

I have the whine too. 2021 2.7 STX 3.55, just picked up with 4k miles. It is there in park/drive. Changes pitch with throttle/RPM in park/drive. I had the same thoughts as some others, either an accessory (alternator) or the trans, torque converter. Not terribly concerned yet- soon as I get time and decent weather I'm going to get under the hood and underneath truck to try to isolate it.

My brand new 2022 F150 XLT FX4 with the 5.0L engine (less than 140 miles on it now) has the same exact whining sound. Ford has assigned a case number to my issue, and I dropped the truck off at the dealership yesterday. This is not acceptable for a truck I spent this much money on and waited for over a year. You know it's a problem when you drive by one of your co-workers who happens to be a Ram owner and is first response is, "What is that whining noise coming from your new F150?". It's embarrassing to drive this truck.

Has anyone had this issue resolved by Ford? If there is a fix, I would like to help my dealer so they are running around chasing "ghosts". I love my dealer but at the end of the day, I'm not happy with the truck. If they can't or won't fix it and come back with "that's the way it's designed", then I'll need to figure out next steps. I want to continue my loyalty to Ford, but if they respond in such a manner, I may need to consider another brand after being loyal to them for 10 years.

Had a 23' 3.5eb 4x4 supercrew as a loaner that had this whine, truck and trans felt like garbage compared to my 22' supercab with the same drivetrain and no noise. Definitely not all of them do this.

My ‘22 XLT with the 5.0 has always had this sound since new. Now over 23,000 miles and noticeable at drive through when I have my window down.

We have a fleet of newer ford trucks at work, from F150s, Transit 150/250, F350s. They all have the same whine, and they all have a 10 speed transmission. I’ve read somewhere that it is due to the straight cut gears for the fluid pump.

Yup, exactly what it is. (Transmission Auxillary Pump) Straight cut gears whine, especially at operating temperature. Mine does it as well.

I knew about the wine coming from the trans gear, but is it really the aux pump gear specifically? I thought that was exclusive to the powerboost. I have a regular 2.7 that also whines like crazy. I really wish it didn't make this sound. I try to pretend it's a supercharger, but that imagination only gets so far. V6s don't really sound good anyway coming off the 4.6 v8.

The straight cut gear is actually on the primary transmission fluid pump.

The auxiliary transmission pump is electric and is necessary on any truck with auto stop/start, if I'm not mistaken. And yes, the Powerboost is the poster child of auto stop/start, if you will. :)
