I had one in my 2011 Explorer and it seemed to work just fine. The down fall was having to wait for the filter to dry after cleaning which seemed to take all day. The disposable ones are just so convenient and inexpensive. I have a WIX cabin air filter auto ship every six months from Amazon.

I didn’t know we had an air filter o_O. My Expedition didn’t have one. Maybe just a Lariat and above thing?
I usually do this every 5k miles but let this one go 10k. Dirtier than I expected.
- Non smoker
- A/C all summer
- Heater\Def all winter
- Windows almost always up.

What's your average replacement?

Change mine every 24 months along with the engine air filter regardless of the mileage. I only drive about 9,000 miles a year.

Owner, IT Consulting\MSP company.
I switched to K&N and gained 20hp!
This reminds me of an ongoing joke I have with some of my buddies.
I collect old cars and know what it takes to get real 400hp (nat. aspir) out of a 289ci engine or whatever HP out of an engine.
So many times I'd walk up to a beautiful Fastback and just be looking where the owner pops up out of his lawn chair to tell me, "Weellllllllll, shes got about 525hp in there..." (While hikin' up his pants and putting his foot on the tire).
So I'm like, "Really, out of a 351 huh? What'd ya do?"
"Well I rotated the tires and slapped a 4v on there.... with an aluminum intake......."
Meanwhile, I'm thinking, 'Congrats, you just increased stock HP by about 7hp's and dropped 17lbs of weight...."

LoL

I usually followed the manual loosely for it in my last vehicle. I'll probably change mine in the spring. I'll be around 20k around then so it'll work out.
