I figured I'd start a thread for posting any notifications that your Lightning order has been "Scheduled for Production"

My recommendation for posts should include the following:

Build Description: ?
Reservation Date/Time: ?
Wave Number: ?
Date/Time of "YOUR ORDER HAS BEEN CONFIRMED" email: ?
Date/Time of "SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION" email: ?
Production Date: ?

An Example Post:

Build Description: Lightning Lariat XR - Smoked Quartz
Reservation Date/Time: 20 May 2021, 1653h
Wave Number: 1
Date/Time of "YOUR ORDER HAS BEEN CONFIRMED" email: 8 January 2022, 1142h
Date/Time of "SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION" email: 15 February 2022, 0900h
Production Date: Week of 4 April 2022

Feel free to add an other info, such as reservation number, order number, dealer, etc...

Best of luck to everyone!

I don't see this happening for at least another couple months. Especially with Ford shutting down factories again due to the chip shortages.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see some scheduled for production in the next month (not in production but scheduled). And while yes there is a shortage in chips, I am certain ford will strip other models of parts needed to get the Lightning on the road. It will most likely be a high priority vehicle.

I second the statement that Ford will reserve chips to be able to build and deliver the Lightning on time.

We should start seeing scheduling dates soon. Maybe in the next 3 weeks for April.

so is it true that no orders have been scheduled so far? I was in wave 1, but didn't get the order in until 2 wks ago due to a dealership owner transition (and therefore web process glitch). Not sure if I'm wave 1 or wave 3 now for scheduling purposes.

They gave every wave until March to place the order, so most likely they will wait until then to do the overall scheduling and start production in April. The waves were only for priority in ordering.

Then why did Ford say 20+ weeks for Wave 1 and 24+ weeks for Waves 2 and 3? It would seem that either the Wave you were in or the Wave that you placed your order in could have an impact on when a vehicle is scheduled for production.

Assuming they use the same chips…
The vehicles use the same dash, infotainment, window, seat, locks, airbags, antilock brakes, and other body control modules. These things are all using the same type of low level chips that are the ones in short supply.
Ford is using a huge amount of common parts.

Right. And completely different tech-heavy powertrains

Right. And completely different tech heavy powertrains. Not much chip power needed for seats, windows, and many other common parts.
And that is exactly why those are the areas struggling for parts. They use older "low tech" chips that no-one wants to make anymore. The higher end chips in the EV drivetrain are comparatively easier to get.

Great news then! Thx. I wish I had an automotive engineering degree so I understood the nuances of these things better.

Is that why there are all those MMEs on 5 month "chip hold"?
