We don't know for certain Rivian has better charging tech. Ford's could be the same, 500A/450v, but they are choosing to limit the max amps to 345 A or lowering the max voltage because they are afraid of battery degradation and having to replace batteries under warranty. At the end of the day...
Glad to see they are using a more aggressive charge rate than the Mach E. 134 kW is definitely pretty good. With the latest update, Rivian tops out at 225 kW now, so their curve at 65% should be better now.
Reveal was in May, so don't think its from last year. Hopefully this means they will do the first deliveries and maybe allow media to actually drive and test the truck soon.
I was wondering why the XLT was so expensive then I realized its Canadian dollars. Congrats! You might be one of the first Canadians to take delivery of a Lightning.
Think my plan now is to just buy a Chargepoint Flex. Probably cost $400 - $500 to install that with a 60 amp breaker. 48 amps should be enough charging for me. I'll probably just sell the Ford Pro Station on ebay for hopefully $1k and come close to breaking even.
$1500 to install the charger? Lol, I can probably have an electrician do it for 500.
Edit: I take that back. Forgot the 100 amp breaker will cost $500 to $600
