Hello everyone,

I discovered a scratch on my rear bumper on the passenger side. Probably from a door or a grocery cart, it seems. Its not too deep, I tried to rub it off but it wont go away.

I got the paint pen from ford. Has anyone else used it on a painted bumper before ? Will it work ?

I've used the paint pen on my hood before to cover some rock chips but not on the bumper.

In all honesty, I would try to wet sand then polish the clear coat first. That doesn’t look bad at all and not enough for paint. If you’re unsure about the wet sand process, check out some youtube videos about it. It’s a very easy process and the results are amazing. Good luck!!

I would consider using a microfiber towel with some rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer or scratchX before going the touch up paint route. It appears to be more of a rub mark than a scratch.

WD40 works great to get things off of paint -- much better than alcohol. Alcohol is quite harsh. A lot of polishes use petroleum distillates as their 'liquid'.

Yes, alcohol to remove residual wax and such then paint. Don't forget to clear over paint.

Thoroughly clean the surface. Tape over the trim with painters tape and use a finish polish (NOT compound) on a microfiber towel/applicator. Work in the polish in small circular motions with very light pressure. Then buff off once the polish becomes transparent. Remember to let the polish do ALL the work! Repeat until the scuff is gone. Might need to apply more pressure if improvements are not seen after two applications. Wipe down with a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol/water mixture and then apply your preferred form of paint protection.
