I have read through all the posts on the tire forum and the towing forum about the best tires for towing. There is a consensus that the stock tires (I have Hankook 275/60R20 115T on my Platinum PB) are not a good fit for towing mid sized trailers. I would like a tire that can handle 7,000 lbs in tow but I have little interest in a tire suitable for off road use. It seems most of the stiff side wall light truck (LT) tires have aggressive tread suitable for off road.
Over the years I have had the best experience using Michelin LT Rib tires but apparently they don't make Rib's in the 20" size. Many folks recommend Michelin Michelin Defender LTX M/S 275/60R20 115T, but based on Michelin website the Defender is not rated as an "LT" tire with a load range E rating.
So what is the best light truck tire with stiff side walls for hauling loads in the 7,000 lb range with the PB F-150, without aggressive, noisy tread?
