I have read through all the posts on the tire forum and the towing forum about the best tires for towing. There is a consensus that the stock tires (I have Hankook 275/60R20 115T on my Platinum PB) are not a good fit for towing mid sized trailers. I would like a tire that can handle 7,000 lbs in tow but I have little interest in a tire suitable for off road use. It seems most of the stiff side wall light truck (LT) tires have aggressive tread suitable for off road.

Over the years I have had the best experience using Michelin LT Rib tires but apparently they don't make Rib's in the 20" size. Many folks recommend Michelin Michelin Defender LTX M/S 275/60R20 115T, but based on Michelin website the Defender is not rated as an "LT" tire with a load range E rating.

So what is the best light truck tire with stiff side walls for hauling loads in the 7,000 lb range with the PB F-150, without aggressive, noisy tread?

If you’re satisfied with Michelins, you can step up to a LT 285/60R20 defender without fitment issues.

Good price for Good Year Wrangler tires for my classic 1975 Ford Pick-up truck. So far these truck tires do well on curvy gravel roads, steep inclines consisting of loose gravel and wet grass. They even climb decent size boulders slowly if centered not to stress or puncture the sidewalls which can happen to most road use a/t tires.

General grabber hts60 is a strong tire with continuous center rib, even in passenger rating. I'm pretty sure you can get load range C and above too.
