800 miles to empty

I have zero confidence in the accuracy of the DTE number. After filling the 36-gal tank and a mileage reset I usually see 545 miles DTE. I can run DTE to zero and the tank fill has never been more than 32 gals.

Imagine the complaints if DTE showed 20mi and folks were running out of gas. They have no choice but to be cautious with the guestimate.

WOW! I’m super lucky if I can hit 20MPG for a tank of gas in my ‘21 PB. Always hoping I’ll get 700 miles on a tank, but never happened yet. Too many elevation changes on my trips and 80MPH limits I suppose.

Yep - those 80mph trips will kill your mpg. Anything over 70 and you can almost feel the tank emptying.

My PB hangs in there pretty well even at 80.

Taking a ~1100 mile trip next week. It'll be interesting to watch the DTE increase during the trip, since most of my trips are generally 5-10 miles. A normal fill up shows about 525 miles. The last hour-ish trip I took, the DTE didn't change until my return trip.

That's what's killed my lifetime average. I let it idle at least 3 minutes before driving it in cooler weather.

The PB idles so wonderfully unless we’re getting fuel I don’t turn it off. Helps with heat soak imo. So idle while we’re loading and then idle while we let the dogs out etc. It’s just a great road trip vehicle

That's some tailwind while going only 1 mph, shaky pic. No wonder you are getting 885 mte.

I usually get around 700 distance to empty when I fill it up. I'm not sure about these trucks, but my 07 Mercury calculated on the distance to empty based on the last 100 miles of mpg regardless of when it was reset.
