Would Bilstein 6112 coilover on max 2.5 setting and 5100’s in the rear be a good combination
and improvement over factory suspension? Also will be putting 295/60/20 tires on stock rim.
Have a 2” puck on front now and I still have a lot of rake. I want it “near” level less rake.
What should I expect?

Better to go with Rancho XL adjustable shocks at the front and rear. Then you can adjust the amount of dampening you need. I used these on a 1-ton that would carry a 3700 lb slide-in camper and once I got the best setting for the front shocks I left them at that setting and for the rear I used a much higher setting when there was the load in the bed. It took less than a minute to adjust the two rear shocks. No porpoising and a softer ride when the bed was empty.

What’s an improvement over stock suspension? Need more detail than that. What kind of ride are you after?

you’re going to need to preload it all the way to get over 2”, but it’ll solve that issue.

Planted, less roll / sway in turns, better steering response.
All why raising front end up and achieving less rake and better look without having to get a lift .

I put Bilstein 6112/5160 combo on mine a couple weeks ago. They're a firmer ride than the stock FX4 shocks. The whole truck feels much more planted though. It also handles high speed bumps/washboard much better than the stock shocks. Adding heavier tires like you plan would make the Bilstein even a better choice. The 2.5" setting will get you pretty close to an exact level. I'm on the 2" and have .75-1" rake.

Hi Gord0, do you have the max tow package? I'm just wondering if that will leave more rake....

I do not, but I don't believe it will add any more rake. I didn't think the max tow had more rake than the standard, just "upgraded" leafs in the rear, among a few other things.

I have the Max tow and believe it has a little more rake tha than
the non Max tow. With a 2” puck in the front I have 39 1/2 fender height and rear 41 1/2 SMH.. Bilsteins going on Friday so we’ll see the difference then.

Sound good, keep us posted. I have my 6112's/5160's on the way and am interested to see your final measurements.

an almost apples to oranges comparison but i have the ford performance bilsteins...huge difference over stock FX4. Definitely feels more planted, definitely less body roll and rides great. no complaints

I’m exited to get them on. What tires and wheels are you running?
I’m staying on a stock +44 wheel and going up to a 295/60/20 tire but torn between Toyo,Nitto, Bfg, Faulken. Too much info. Brain overload for sure.

Bilsteins on 6112/5100 and 295/60/20 Nitto today. Not many miles yet but I am very pleased so far. 41 1/4” rear 40 3/4” front. With improved handling.
