Towing Question w/ 3.0L Powerstroke?

Took delivery of my 3.0L Powerstroke about 2 months ago and love the truck. Got exactly what I wanted. However, I did not get the 3.55 rear end as I rarely do any towing BUT, now we are looking at an Airstream with 6500 GVWR. Any experience on how it would tow through the mountains? If need be can you change the gearing from 3.31 to 3.55? The tow rating is 10400lbs. with 3.31 & 12100 lbs with 3.55.

Just an FYI, I'd also watch your payload. It's on your door sticker. Most people forget. Not sure what they run on the Powerstroke.

Just an FYI, I'd also watch your payload. It's on your door sticker. Most people forget. Not sure what they run on the Powerstroke.
Just checked and it was way lower than I thought. 1289 lbs

Yes but dealer said $5-6K. The max payload of 1289 lbs. may be an issue anyway

Wow most I got a quote was 3k
Both dealer & individual shop said they'd never done before on 2021, no surprise there, but would be $5-6K. Maybe this will come down in years to come.

Shit you maybe need to vacation to one of coasts and get the work done dam cheaper

Found a couple local guys who will do gear change for $2500

Wow awfully low payload numbers… 1,289- minus tongue weight - humans- luggage , sure don’t cut it.:cry::confused:
Yeah the engine chews a lot of it up and then the trim level eats the rest up. For some it makes sense not for others. For me diesel hovers about 10 to 20 cents more than reg 87. But the mpg is pretty big that counts when you are putting high mileage daily
