Specifically, how do you link your email to Sync? I could never get it to work.
If I remember correctly, it was decisions made when prompted for all possible access permissions when I first paired the phone.

Call History
Contacts
Email
Text messaging

Note that it's an Android. I don't know what the supported Sync access features are available for IPhone?

Also, if you have more than one phone paired, as I do, the phone that you wish to access text/email on, must be the phone that you select as the primary phone for calls.

With 2 phones paired you can select which phones support which features:

Calling
Streaming
Android Auto (only one phone can be designated as Android Auto host)

Not visible to the human eye.
The camera sure reveals it though!

This is an addendum to the previous video that showed the Sync4 email Favorite, but didn't address the actual smartphone properties in Sync4 that should be there for reading email/text

My 2021 Lariat has the option but my phone doesn't. I have phone calls, media audio, contact sharing and text messages. I have to admit that voice texting is awesome though.

After some discussion and research, I have found two things to be true. 1st, texts and emails are viewable on the sync screen under certain circumstances and 2nd, sync tech doesn't know shit about sync 4.

I'll explain. The issue is Android Auto. When your phone's connected with a cable or via Bluetooth, both email and messages are viewable on your screen just like in the videos in the above posts. If you are connected via Android auto, emails and messages are NOT visible.

If you go to the phone list screen...
Ford F-150 Sync 4 won't notify about new texts 20230402_123154

You will see your phone and 3 icons.. They control how's your phone is connected to sync. If you touch the phone icon, you are just on Bluetooth and the email and messages can be accessed and viewed. If you tap the Android auto icon, no email or messages. They can be toggled back and forth, but you have to choose phone if you want to see your messages list.
It would be nice if Google would add that basic functionality to AA. Come on Google, play nice and fix this!!
Also, the tech I spoke with at Ford sync should absolutely have known this. She told me that texts could not be viewed on the sync screen. I mean, come on, it's only your freaking job!!@#$_&

You just explained more reasons for Android Auto to be less and less necessary as Sync4 becomes what I personally believe to be a really nice interface to the truck in its entirety.

Or put another way, I wasn't expecting for Sync4 to be as elegant as it has become.

I realize these things can be subjective and not everyone would see it the same. I also am aware that just one app in Carplay or Android Auto might be so desirable that the user will forfeit all the native Sync4 interface for the use of that particular app. (Waze, is a good example)

But in my daily use, I am now an Alexa trained Sync4 pilot. :)

Yes. Exactly. There is no reason that AA has to make native sync 4 features unavailable.

No text messages for sure as Apple has the iMessage layer integrated with text messaging and the API isn't accessible by 3rd parties (Ford). iOS Mail isn't natively available in car play so definitely not via Sync.
