We have a small neighborhood outage ongoing. After about 30 min I decided to plug in the freezer and fridge to the truck. I have the 7.2kw upgrade, and obviously, those two things didn't affect the truck at all.

Neighbor came by asking if I had power, as the freezer is on the same power strip as some of my garage lighting. It was fun to explain that my truck was running all that, while silent.

Hopefully comes back on soonish, but at least my food won't spoil. I do want to look into a whole house solution soon though.

That bonded ground is the issue that has to be figured out. Let me know when and how you solve that one. If your house is newer you might not have a problem.

My house was built in 1979, so I'm not sure if I'll be lucky. I have a good handyman friend that can call in a few favors with an electrician he often works with.

We'll see what happens..

You just need a transfer switch that works with generator that have bonded neutral. Generac, Siemens and Eaton are some of the companies that are making them. My son's house was bulit in early 70 and it works fine with my PB 7.2KW
