Ah ha. I kind thought this might be the case, since obviously they need to start and stop somewhere.

Thank you for checking.

So either they just didn't fully complete the circle or the element at the very end is broke.
Hmmm, now what to do or not to do.
i only noticed it because you posted about it otherwise i probably would have figured that seam in the stitching was absorbing heat or something

i retrofitted my heated wheel so nothing can be done in my camp. my bet is that more wheels are like this than not

I've got the same exact wheel -- haven't noticed a dead spot up top, might take the FLIR to it.

In some pictures your wheel is 37 and others 69. Those numbers are all over the place.
Don't rely on those, I wasn't trying to register the temp, just show the thermal profile. While you can see slightly warmer within a single image, I didn't have the range locked so you can't infer temps between images. There's a sweet spot where everything lines up and you can rely on the temp reading, but that wasn't it. It's parallax issue between the sensors. You can see the visible light camera overlaying an image on top of the thermal camera to get an idea of how the parallax affect is.

Take this issue, the thermal can't see the dash behind the wheel while it's displaying it.

My truck went in a couple of weeks ago for a warranty issue unrelated to the steering wheel, one of the employees working on my truck somehow sliced open the leather on my steering wheel. So I was told they would be replacing the wheel. New wheel went on last week and the heated wheel works nothing like my old one did, sort of warms up for a couple min, then goes to lukewarm at best with cold spots. When it is warming though I noticed that cool spot right away where you’re describing yours, my old steering wheel did not. I will be bringing it in, not happy that I had a wheel that worked great stayed warm and now ended up with a sub par heated wheel because of their mistake.

I checked mine and I don’t have a cold spot. It’s weird they are so inconsistent.

So do I need a new steering wheel? Because I can’t get my steering wheel to stay warm. It cools off in like 10 min if that

I just bought a brand new 23 lariat and my steering wheel doesn’t stay warm at all. It turns on then gets cool after 10 min. Any way to get that to stay hot all the time?
You can adjust the shutoff time using Forscan.

SCCM module.

Thank you. Do I need to go to Ford to get it done?
No, Ford won't do this for you. Research ForScan on this forum.
