Got FX4 Skid cover installed/goodbye Diaper

My 2018 FX4 had the metal plate but my 2022 FX4 came with the bib. Recently i was poking my head around local ford dealer and saw that some 2023s had the bib and some had the metal plate. All of them were FX4 , Is the bib part of the virus shortage ? Cmon Ford , these item shortages are BS already .

My 2021 FX4 had the garbage fiber cover, Tossed it after first oil change.

I'm curious if anyone knows rhyme or reason to if you get treated like a baby ( bib) or you get an adult plate ?

100% certain. My 2018 FX4 had it and upon inspection at the Ford dealer i saw one 2023 FX4 have the diaper and one 2023 FX4 have that plate. I can even take a video and send it over.

lol no need, just double checking. I was curious and looked it up because I'd love to replace my felt saggy 'shield' too. Mine's starting to fray on the edges.

The trucks that you are likely seeing with the steel plate have been upgraded by their owners to have the 2017-2020 Raptor transmission skid plate, either to protect the transmission, or the Catalytic converters.

I believe that the normal FX4 skid plate package doesn't include the steel plate, only the greyish colour plate in your photos. (in the photos, that truck appears to have the front skid from the bumper back that isn't part of the FX4 package to my knowledge, and it also looks like it wasn't totally designed for the raptor plate, as the front bolt holes aren't there in the frame [certain 2021's didn't have them])

My Canadian 2023 Powerboost (non FX4) didn't even have the felt cover over the transmission pan, and has since been upgraded to FX4 plates, and the Raptor plate for the transmission / catalytic converters

My '21 FX4 had the felt cover and aluminum strike plate over the transmission. Both were removed when I had the lift installed

Easy exact fit 6 bolts install on my ‘22, 2.7, 4wd,xlt,SC. Parts people will tell you it won’t fit cause it’s listed for Raptor. Drop front 4 bolts, loosen back 2, cover pivots down. Easy.

Mine, too. I have the parts ready to install (the plate plus the different hardware) I just haven't done it yet. There is a thread somewhere that has all the parts needed.

I used the metal plate and used the existing screws. There are 2 mounting points that dont line up but everything else is used . The thing is still super tight , does not move. .

My 2023 fx4 didn't even have the fiber cover, not that I wanted it anyway.
