Hello and happy Saturday to everyone! Sgt. Gearhead reporting in.
So yesterday I swung by the Ford dealer in Jefferson City because I saw they had the new Tremor package available on the lot. I also briefly talked to the salespeople (very friendly folks, by the way) about the truck and looked at it against a normal FX4 package. This specific unit is a 402A High Package with the leather heated/cooled seats, the 360-degree camera package, and basically every other option available. It stickered for around $71,000 (can't remember if that was with a markup or not... either way- yikes!) I'm pretty sure this truck is painted in Lead Foot Gray, but somebody please correct if I'm wrong. The salesman told me that this is their second Tremor that they have received, the first one being Antimatter Blue. If it were up to me, my perfect Tremor would be painted Velocity Blue because I think it just pops in the sun. However, I also think that LFG looks pretty good as well. They also let me fire it up to hear the 3.5 with the new dual exhaust system (and so I could play around with all the fancy tech). It's no V8, but it still sounds pretty throaty in my opinion. I'm told that they plan to have the new Raptor and the new Maverick coming in the the not-so-distant future, so I plan to report on that when those arrive. Until then, here's some photos of the Tremor for you all to drool over! Enjoy!
Here's the side profile. Still not a fan of the ugly rake in the rear, but that's nothing a good leveling kit won't fix...
Here's the front end. Has anyone noticed that the orange strips on the grill continue into the amber LED strips inside the headlights?
The 33'' tires on this Tremor are very knobby and have a lot of tread on them, a lot more than on the FX4. I like how they blacked out the Ford oval on the wheels like they did on the front grill. The wheel design is also very simple (nothing too fancy- this is an off-roader), with a nice smoked gray appearance to them.
This Tremor has the tailgate step with the tailgate work surface. I found the step to feel very solid and stable climbing up into the bed, with the grab handle feeling very solid as well.
Here's the engine bay. After hearing how deep and growly this 3.5L EcoBoost sounds at idle, I can't wait to hear what the Raptor sounds like in comparison!
I can't get over how nice this interior feels. The touch points are great, the seats are really nice to sit in, plus the orange accents stand out well against all the black.
The digital gauge cluster in this Tremor is very well thought-out and easy to use. I know some people have a problem with the tach looking too similar to the speedometer, but I think they look just fine.
The new 12-inch is screen is very large, but in the short time that I played around with the features, I found it to be very sleek, well laid-out, and super easy to use. I think my favorite feature is the 360-degree camera. I think it would be very useful when driving down a tight trail or if you're trying to park in a very narrow spot.
Here's some more pictures of the leather seats. Again, I cannot get over how comfortable this interior is. The seats are soft but yet very supportive. It's so remarkable how far trucks have come, from being stripped, basic work trucks to comfortable cruisers that aren't a pain to drive on a daily basis.
Here's a close-up of the shifter. This particular truck does not have the interior work surface, but nevertheless the shifter still folds down. I also like how they incorporated more of the orange stitching on the top of the the shift lever.
