Dead battery?

Is there an alert sound when the battery is about to go down because something was left on? The other day I kept hearing an electronic alert noise that I assumed was coming from my neighbor's brand new car which was parked next to my garage. When I tried to start my truck yesterday it was dead-- nothing. After getting it started with a jump it acted very strange for a while before settling down. The only thing I can think of is that I inadvertently turned on the hazard lights a few days earlier while cleaning the interior, and then closing the garage door. So I now assume that the electronic alert was actually my truck.
