How long does it take for break-in on a 3.5 EcoBoost. I feel the need to stomp on it but don't want to until it's ready.

Looking at most “performance” engines. Factory nannies turn off at 500 miles allowing full use of rpm range. Ford owners manual recommends waiting 1000 miles before towing. General ideas.

The manual states:
Ford F-150 Break-in period 1635474886772

I am at 1,100 miles, and this is the approach I took.
0-500 miles - EASY on the throttle, rarely got above 3000 rpm, no cruise, top speed 75mph.
500-750 miles - Mostly easy, few bursts to 5k, no cruise, hit 80mph a few times.
750-1,000 miles - mostly easy, LOTS of bursts to 5k, some bursts to 6k, no cruise, 85mph top speed.
1,000+ let it loose.

I Might be totally over thinking it, but I have two GT cars with 9k limits, and this is the break-in for those motors. Porsche will run DME reports to verify for warranty, so I follow. I tried to emulate on an abbreviated schedule for the F150.

0-1000 miles: Easy, 4K rpm max, no cruise, 75mph top speed
1000-1250 miles: Easy, 5K rpm max, no cruise, 80mph top speed
1250-1500 miles: Moderate, 6K rpm max, no cruise, 85mph top speed
1500-1750 miles: Moderate, 7k rpm average, few bursts to 8k, no cruise, 90mph top speed
1750-2000 miles: Moderate, 8k rpm average, few bursts to 9k, no cruise, 100mph top speed
2000+: BEAT THE HELL OUT OF IT

What’s the reason that you shouldn’t use Cruise during Break In period?

I am going to have a 900 mile drive home from the dealer and using Cruise would obviously make that drive a lot easier.

You want to vary rpm's so that the rings seat properly. Cruise holds the rpm's to a steady pace unless you encounter steep hills. It's not something you want. Cruise can also lug the engine at low rpm's without downshifting which is also bad for the main and rod bearings. Reasons stated above, vary the rpm's, helps to seat everything so they last. Hope this helps.

You can leave it in cruise, just use the +/- to change RPMs occasionally. Also, make stops more frequently and maybe take a couple frontage or alternate non-interstate roads along your way. ymmv.
