Hey guys, I was attempting to change out the air filter on my truck this morning and noticed something a bit odd.

On the tube running from the air filter housing to the engine I saw what appears to be a large dent. It looks like maybe something was dropped and/or pressed into it, or maybe it got too hot somehow during the assembly process and partially melted.

It also looks like it could possibly be a deliberate design characteristic too.

For those of you that have the 3.5L V-6 EcoBoost (or any 2021 F-150, they all appear to have mostly the same air intake system) would you mind taking a look at yours and posting some pics on what it looks like and if this is normal?

Here is what mine looks like currently:

Even though I have the 2.7 I thought I’d post the pic anyway.

It's there for NVH most likely.

[/QUOTEThere is another poster that has the same dent in his. He also has extensive damage to the plastic/foam rubber piece that sits on top of the engine. It seems a critter of some sort got under the hood and chewed or bit chunks off of it. He was also concerned about the same dent you have.

Here is a screenshot from Doug DeMuro's review on YouTube from 4 months ago. Looks like it comes from the factory that way.

Of course it comes that way. Like I said it's likely a "muffler" for the intake. Quieting the intake "whoosh"

I replied to your post previously but don't know if sent it correctly. My bad. There was another person who had the same dent on his intake. I can't remember what web site I was on when I saw it. It could have been this site or might have been on F150Forum.com His gripe was that a critter got up under the hood and chewed on the foam/plastic piece on top of the engine but also noticed the dent in the intake tube similar to yours. After a little searching I found the post. It's on F150forum.com F150forum.com/f129/always-check-under-hood-499144

All, I stand corrected: was looking at wrong area. Yes, my powerboost does have what would be perceived a bent air flow tube. But, it's not bent as an defect, instead it's designed on purpose. If it was not bent - then the bottom of the coolant overflow tank would not fit - based on it's design.

Bottom Line: It's normal & designed that way.
