I saw a stupid fake car repair video "Customer states car will not start without blinker on". Of course they just weren't stepping on the brake. A guy in the comments said he wired his bike to not start unless he hit the horn and starter at the same time. He figured a thief wouldn't think to do that.

It got me to thinking if you could really wire a truck or car up that way and what different ways could you do a modern truck with all the whiz bang gizmos that they have on them. Of course if someone figured out a good one and sold it then the professionals would know about it and try it when they steal a truck.

I imagine you could do some type of inline switch on the wires connected to the ignition/push button that needs to be "on" for it work as normal, could be a hidden switch somewhere, something you push (like the horn) that is momentary contact etc. You would obviously need to find the right wire(s) to tap into but I am sure it could be done and how would obviously vary by vehicle and even options like the F-150 not being exclusively push start so not sure how viable a commercial version would be.

Yeah wouldn't want a commercial version because people other than you would be able to figure it out. I just thought it was a cool idea what "secert" thing you could do.

I knew a guy in Phoenix that got tired of his cars getting stolen so he installed a magnetic kill switch under his dash. He carried around a strong magnet to close the switch which then allowed him to start the car. It was pretty funny watching him walk around with a magnet in his pocket and suddenly he'd get attached to a door frame or an appliance he walked too close to.

Great idea. You can hide a home alarm magnetic door/window switch somewhere that will then connect the start command wire only when a magnet is present. It's basically an open circuit until a magnet is present.

I use these to turn on LED lights in cupboards / cabinets because they're so cheap. Limited wattage, perfect for signal breaking.

If you want to activate higher power circuits, these require virtually no current to trigger. They're isolated units that activate a little internal LED to trip them.

I really wish ford would do something super simply like allow a secondary lock code on the screen that basically won't let anything happen without a key present and the pin code entered. The mach-e with its phone as key option includes the ability for the car to be driven entirely with no key or phone present. Enter the door through the lock code, then on-screen you get presented with a keyboard to enter the backup start passcode. This allows anyone with the door code and backup start passcode to operate the vehicle.

Sad we even have to think of these things. Us working class trying to afford a decent vehicle and these low life's thats just as capable as us to work rather just go steal our stuff we work hard for. What happened to good Ole days where every vehicle we had were unlocked with key in ignition and never worried about them.

it’s the old kill switch model where you would hide a switch or have a sequence of switches to close the circuit
