I have a question. I think I backed myself into a corner with this one
First, this lock is specc'd for the 2023 F150 XLT.
Following directions for my 2023 F150 XLT I attempted to install this lock. I had to remove the piece that holds the rotating hinge. This is exactly what I had to do on my 2014 F150 XLT, so I'm dumb enough to forget I will have problems with this since I have already done this before.
Turns out the torx bolt that holds that piece in place so the tailgate can rotate must have been installed with 2 lbs of loctite. Usually one can break through the loctite after a few pulls and the bolt will come on out. I could not get there. I gave up unbolting it for fear that I might break it. Then I tried to tighten it back up. That went nowhere I soon reached a point where it would tighten no more.
I am now afraid to put too much umph and nasty words on it for fear the bolt may break. I figured this must be Ford's new antitheft strategy.
Before I go to the dealer and let them laugh at me are there any pointers here?

McGard Tailgate Lock
Had a friend recently lose a Toyota Highlander even though he had a club on it. Cops told him with battery operated saws now can hack one off in under a minute. All depends if they want your specific truck or not. It isn't so much which one is easier to steal - it is which one has an order in for it. $100k+ trucks are creating an incentive.$17.00 Club is one of the oldest and best deterrents around...
Sure they can (eventually) cut the bar or pick the lock but usually when a theif sees them, they just move on...
$17.00 done deal
I prefer an ill tempered Chihuahua with a laser beam on it's head.pit bull or large dog with aids that cant be taken out of truck is only sure way the bad guy wont drive it
an ignition hard interlock really is only way to defeat the drive away.
but towing it is hard to defeat
the knuckle heads .. drive up, drop the stinger and take off with the car in short order.
They are probably taking them across the border to be used by evil doer organizations.Move to a “good neighborhood”. How do you even sell a stolen vehicle like that anyway?…
Clearly, you or he deleted his post, can't see what he said.Sorry @Eighthtry , as often the case, I am devoid of wisdom. But wow, the bold shouldn't be that tight. I am guessing that you either have to A) try nasty words and a breaker bar or B) be laughed at by the dealer (if no mechanic friends).
