Mods, I listed this under general topics as I’m unsure if it should go somewhere else.

In order to be prepared for the future cold weather, I’m wanting to add the OEM engine block heater. I’ve never personally installed one. Is it difficult? I see videos for aftermarket ones on older f150s but nothing for the new one. Thanks!

I had one in my last 150 and never used it. I live in Wisconsin and it gets sub zero here and never had any issues. I figured I'm more likely then not to forget to unplug it.

I purchased a truck from dealer inventory in Rhode Island with the 3.0 Powerstroke and someone ordered the truck without the engine block heater option ($90) and inquired about getting that cheap option added prior to picking it up. They said sure that can be done, quoted me $650!!
No thanks, I will pass on that one. I will try another route at a later date. Seemed overly expensive.

When I ordered my truck, the block heater was included with any truck needing the front license plate bracket. My cord is sitting behind the bracket. Was an automatic item that was included.

Hello Billy,
I bought KATS 11815 (amazon) $38.93. Have not used yet, Talked with their tech support, liked the concept and what they said. Not difficult to install. my 06 escape hybrids get better mpg in winter starting the drive with warm engine. I installed heaters on both
regards,
Ed
