Do F-150 block heaters have a thermometer to kick in?

I’m wondering if the 2021 F-150’s block heaters only close the circuit below a certain temperature? It doesn’t matter much as I usually don’t plug in until -15°C, but my coworkers have been talking about other brands that use a thermostat to activate the heater.

I'm looking into thermostat switches to turn on power to the heater only if the temp drops below a specified temperature. Something like this:

On the Engine Block Thermal image thread in the 3.5 Ecoboost sub-forum, Kanuck talked about adding this kind of switch to the power cord. I have the above linked item on order and looks like I'll have plenty of days to try it in the next several weeks!

That’s exactly what I was wondering about! I’ve heard some GM’s come with them from factory, but with the weather we’ve been having the heater would never kick out!

I’m putting the thermostat switch in-line with a timer so it comes on at 4am if temp is below 20F.
