So I’ve got a 22 Super crew Lariat with the 8 speaker B&O. My question is will upgrading the rear speakers with a component speaker set increase the sound level from the back and balance it out more?

Not if the DSP settings on the OEM amp wont allow. They want more coming from the front stage, so that's probably intentional.

Yes, on my 8 speaker I just go to the rear on the fader a couple clicks.

Even on the B&O, upgrading the door speakers with 2 or 3-way components will make a significant improvement to the overall clarity. Just be sure to get 6x9's like OEM size for the fronts as Crutchfield still thinks that 6.5 and 6.75" rounds are a better fit.

Can't you just tweak it with the "fader" controls to the rear a notch or two?
On both my Ranger (with B&O) and the F150 (non B&O) I found that the fader really needed to be moved back 2-3 clicks to center the sound stage correctly. If left in the default setting the rear doors are virtually useless. Also make sure that under the sound settings that the Rear occupant option is enabled. If it's turned off the system will automatically shift the sound to the front speakers only.
