Curious. What made you decide to get the Max Trailer Tow package (53C) over the Trailer Tow package (53A) on your PowerBoost? What feature/upgrade specifically justified the additional price increase?XLT Powerboost 302A Sport Appearance Package, 7.2KW Pro Power, FX-4, Max Tow, 360 Co-pilot Assist 2.0, 360 Cameras
Mods done:
- Ceramic tinted front sides (20%) and windshield (60%)
- BAKflip MX4 Tonneau cover
- BedRug Classic Bedliner
- Wheel Well Liner (Rear) and Box link (added) using Ford Reward Points
While you didn't ask me specifically, I'll provide my info. I went back and forth on the decision a lot. In the end I went for Max Tow with PB based on reading a lot of opinions in various tow threads and some DMs with some forum members. For me it was wanting the onboard scales and for towing. I wasn't concerned so much about price or the 20lb hit to payload.Curious.What made you decide to get the Max Trailer Tow package (53C) over the Trailer Tow package (53A) on your PowerBoost? Confused. Per the 2022 RV & Trailer Tow Guide, the On-Board Scales (55S) are not included in the Max Trailer Tow package (53C). They are only included in the Tow Technology package (17T).While you didn't ask me specifically, I'll provide my info. I went back and forth on the decision a lot. When I ordered my 2021 (Job 2) in July, onboard scales was an available option that required max tow. You can still see it in the 2021 build and price tool.Confused. Now I understand. It wasn’t included in the Max Trailer Tow package (53C), but to add the Onboard Scales (55S) as an option, 53C was a prerequisite at the time. So the jump from 53A to 53C was necessary. Got it.When I ordered my 2021 (Job 2) in July, onboard scales was an available option that required max tow.
I'd just be really careful with a horse trailer. I think their tongue weights are closer to 22% with a quick google search. So a 4k lb trailer plus two 600lb horses may put you overweight on the payload with humans in the cab. However, I am probably the last one to be an expert on horse trailering, so my thoughts may be very wrong. Now I understand. I just don’t see myself hauling anything close to that weight. More than likely, I’ll be using a gooseneck 2x horse trailer anyway, and the max capacity is the same for 53A or 53C.
Tracking tongue weight, especially a gooseneck. I appreciate you making sure.I'd just be really careful with a horse trailer. This truck came closest to meeting my needs, wants, budget, and was available on a lot without me having to special order and wait. The Max Tow was NOT something I had to have. I would have been happier finding a truck on the lot with everything I have except having the regular Tow package so that I could save another $900. If I planned to tow near the max range of the F-150 capability often or for a long distance I would have just bought a F-250.Curious.What made you decide to get the Max Trailer Tow package (53C) over the Trailer Tow package (53A) on your PowerBoost? Haven't tested yet. Only had truck for three weeks. Just finished replacing tires, adding tint, and line-x. It is at the dealer today for a TSB due to tailgate removal. Once all that is settled, we're going to pick up our TT from storage, run it across CAT scales, test the onboard scales features, and install the pro backup stickers. But we wanted to complete all the initial mods first to get an idea of remaining GAWR and Payload before ordering a tonneau cover, etc.Tracking tongue weight, especially a gooseneck. You finding the onboard scales useful? The 11/3 Options Guide lists 55S as an available option w/o prerequisites for my Lariat 500A. I typically tow the same thing and a CAT scale is nearby.
Just started a thread on this yesterday. Also looking to see what’s left on my Rear GAWR.But we wanted to complete all the initial mods first to get an idea of remaining GAWR and Payload before ordering a tonneau cover, etc.
