Front Differential/ Transfer Case Driveline LEAK

Dropped my truck today at the dealer for leaking differential fluid where the transfer case driveline enters the front differential. Fluid only leaked when any of the 4WD modes were engaged. Anyone experience this on their 14 gen? Just hoping it’s not months for parts!

Mike, was it just a bad seal? Mine is doing the same at 12k and I see a few others out there.

It was indeed a bad seal

Had the same issue on my 2021. Bad seal. Mine started leaking at around 8.5k miles.

Which seal was it? I’m guessing all 4x4 are susceptible to this leak?

I recently read a post from @Who are you where they were doing an oil change and noticed that their front differential was also leaking from the seal area. Hopefully, this was just a bad (or improperly installed) batch of seals rather than a larger concern.

I have a 21 XLT FX4 and local dealer noticed a leak on the rear differential. at 17k. They said it was a pinion seal and would have to order one. I tried multiple times to get the service performed and always some excuse. I took it back at 24K to get the oil changed and they said it wasn’t leaking. I heard a humming noise this past weekend so I took it to another dealership and they confirmed it is leaking and they are going to repair it in a couple of weeks. Never heard of so many reports of seals leaking on new vehicles. I’m done with the local dealership.

My 2021 powerboost started having a propane smell in the cab and found it was caused by the front differential leak. My dealer is working on the replacement. It`s a shame since it`s only 15k miles. Definitely a paper-quality part...

Was yout smell all the time? Oddly I only have a smell in the cab when a window or roof is vented at lower speeds. I don't have any odor when when all windows are closed. My smell seems more like gear lube than propane.
