Auto Headlamps Not Working?

Yesterday morning I pressed the fog lamp button on the lighting dial while auto was selected and it displayed on the dash for a second then all icons went off. I toggled between parking and headlamp on and both work still but now my auto parking lights and headlamps don’t. Any idea what is going on?

I'm guessing your ambient lighting situation changed. Typically, in mine anyways, those icons only display if your headlamps (auto) are actually on. I don't mean turned on, but actually on. As soon as ambient lighting is sufficient, the headlamps turn off, and the icons go away.

I thought I remember at least the parking lights icon displayed during the day…I’ll check tonight to be sure. Either way, my fog lamp icon won’t display when I select it. I’ll take a look tonight.

Unless your headlights are actually on, you can't turn on the fog lights.

Note: When the lighting control is in the autolamps position, you cannot switch the fog lamps on unless the headlamps are on.

I appreciate it. I guess the ambient lighting conditions were confusing yesterday morning with the fog. I’ll check full functionality tonight. Thanks again for the help.

Ok all good! I guess I got confused in the foggy weather.

Confused the hell out of me as well.
I did not even notice this anomaly till last week.

My 98 Chev k1500 has an icon that is lit anytime the DRL is active.
The DRL only shuts off when the park brake is activated (manual trans) and for those with automatics, once shifted out of park.

my 98 does not have auto-lamps, but the icon goes away when the headlights are turned on.
my 07 Trailblazer with auto-lamps is the same—-icon until the car is out of park or darkness turns on the lights

I also notice that if your high beam is on, the fog lights turn off.
