I don't think it's a fuel door release. Looks like the manual shows that you use a little mini crow bar and pry it open...nice!!!

Like Pioneer74 said, only on the Powerboost. Anyway this is the story my dealer told me when I took possesion of my truck.

imagine the discussion with the engineers and marketing
if you buy a power boost you get an electrically opening gas tank flap with a string.
just to make those without a powerboost feeling jilted by no electrically locking gas tank flap

Powerboost is electrically opened due to regulations for Hybrids. It is not just an electric switch and latch, it only opens when the control module senses the fuel tank is depressurized.
