Another successful towing trip with 2021 F-150 Powerboost & E-Pro Trailer

Just completed another camping trip with the 2021 Platinum 4x4 PB. Towed our 2023 E-Pro 20FBS TT (3740#s) and while using tow mode we got 10.6 MPG. Had strong headwinds towing the trailer outbound, we left right after a cold front came through Florida so we had NW winds the entire trip out. We stayed at St. Andrews State Park near Panama City FL. Before this trip I adjusted my WDH and shifted more weight from the rear to front axles and that made a big difference in the high winds. Had very little sway. Didn't use the PPOB this trip since we had full hookups. Still having the "trailer disconnect" warning after stopping for gas. Seems like everytime I stop and start the truck up it doesn't see the trailer. Have to turn off the engine, disconnect the trailer and start up the truck and plug in the trailer. PITA.

Nice set-up. I towed a cargo trailer from Tacoma to Las Vegas via Reno With my 21 PB. Hit some 100+ temps, winds, and the mountain passes. Not a singe issue and almost forgot it was back there.
Towed the same trailer from Las Vegas to Alaska with my 22 PB. This time it was loaded as was the truck. Again, not a problem and towed like a dream. Camped all the way through Canada using the onboard gen. Averaged 12.8 mpg.

Good choice to stay! It's been a couple of years, but we've camped there a few times now! It's one of the cleanest, maintained and accommodating camp sites we've stayed at

Out west often mountain passes impact fuel consumption. Live near the coast in CA, own a hide out in Western Nevada. Make the trip 3 or 4 times a year.

Did your route take you over any mountain passes over 7500'?

I envy your mileage.. Last summer in 100 degree temps I towed a 6500 lb trailer from north of SF and only made it as far as Truckee, a meager 7.4 mpg over several passes the highest 7800'.

No mountain passes in Florida, just overpasses Mostly flat roads with a few times minor rolling hills less than 100'..

For the trailer disconnect issue, try putting some conductive grease on the 7-pin connector. I had the same issue, but that cleared it up.

For the record, the grease used on electrical connections is not conductive. What it does is prevent oxidation of the electrical contacts when exposed to moisture so you get a good electrical connection.

I got both contact cleaner and dielectric grease.

I recently stumbled on this advertisement that is likely geared more for Electric Vehicles (and by that I mean trucks), but I am curious if it would help ICE trucks achieve better fuel efficiency. Granted, we can leave the pricing factor out of this equation Less resistance, active propulsion Any towing gurus want to chime in?
