I recently got a good deal on the Ford accessories Kicker VLM3Z-18808-A subwoofer for my 2021 F-150 and I’m having trouble with the poor instructions. The instructions have you hooking up 3 wires to the head unit. I know I have to take the center speaker out of the dash and the panel that it is mounted to and remove 4 bolts for a bracket that holds down the head unit but I’m not sure what else I need to remove to get to the plug they’re talking about in the instructions. I have installed the unit itself on the back wall and ran the wires up to the kick panel and ran the wires under the hood just need help with the 3 wires hook up on the head unit. Thanks, Jeff

Thanks. It’s says remove 4 bolts pictured and there are 2 securing the bottom of the PCM not picture? Does the whole screen have to come off? Or does the module come out? Or just unplug the connector from the back but it’s pretty tight behind the module.

No the acm will come out with the 7mm from the top. You do not need to remove the screen you do need to remove the screen surround

You can get to the plug right? You mean you can’t insert them. There is a locking plate on the front of the connector you have to slide to be able to push the pins in. I’ll try to take pics Tomorrow at the office

Thanks. Any help would be appreciated

I see a plug or 2 from the opening on top of the dash on the drivers side back of the (metal box) head unit behind the 12” screen.
This really sucks when the manufacturer tells you they don’t know what I need to remove to get to the plug. They told me Ford was the one that did the instructions.

That metal box is what you want to access. That is the ACM. THat has two plugs on it. Black and grey. You want the grey plug. Once its unplugged that is when you insert the pins after the pin lock is pulled out to allow a pin to be inserted. That metal box can come out through the top. that is how they say to remove it in the workshop manual

Do you know how many bolts hold it down? Thanks again

4 on the top that hold a bracket and 4 on the bottom that you will need an extension tpo access and maybe a magnetic socket or telescoping magnet.
