Very sorry to hear. Is that her pic? She's really cute.
Did she usually ride in the front? I know Tank would have loved to have ridden up front, but I'd didn't think the seat would have fit him well with the console. (He was around 110-120.)

@powerboatr had this pic which made me think of putting something in the footwell for a longer surface to lay on.

She usually road in the back.

Thanks @SuperClyde , @BigEd290 , & @AutonomousHybridF150 for the posts and pics!

Cosmo is a lucky dog (twice). We also understand that peanut butter can contain xylitol which is bad for dogs. And some of the brands don't list it as an ingredient - which is fun.

Fritz reminds me of Tank in that pic (in my old truck). He loved going to the dump. If the front end loader went by, he'd bark (the BIG bark) at it. If it came close to the truck, he'd bark at it from the far side. LOL

@AutonomousHybridF150 - sorry for your loss. Looks like you've got a new best friend and travel companion. Here's to many happy miles.

Sorry for your loss. Here’s my little dummy; Katie. We rescued her when someone tried to dump her and the rest of her litter in an irrigation canal. We got her in 2016 when Katie Ladecky was dominating the swimming events, thus we named her Katie LeDoggy. 😂

We truly don’t deserve the level of love and devotion dogs give us. Mine is my little buddy when I’m doing yard work or working on projects in the garage, she’s always by my side, and she just loves my 2 and 4 year old.

Thanks Jarred - Katie looks like she's returned your kindness as dogs do best - constantly and consistently! I also love the cat's expression - "WTH?". LOL

Hey folks, I lost my pal Tank yesterday very suddenly. He was 6 years old and we adopted him as a surrender at 2.5 years of age and he was a great family member and looked to always keep the peace in the house. A large inoperable (and probably rare) stomach tumor took him. The vet had only seen this type of tumor once before in 20 years.

Tank loved to go for rides, and he would nudge his hanging leash with his nose to let you know it, and I'm ashamed to say I had only taken him for a single ride in my new truck. I ran him to Tractor Supply on a cool overcast day using a vinyl rear seat cover. When I came back out after about 2 minutes he was in the front passenger seat, and I thought - "Well I've got extra large ventilation holes up there now." (No holes were made but on an older Honda I had, he did puncture the thin leather seats - which is why I got the vinyl cover.) I tried to get pics of him in the truck, but with a black interior and he being so black (not just "black" but "Washington Black" for fans of the series "Psych"), the pics did not come out and I deleted them figuring "I've got time to get others - He's still very young.".

I held off on any other rides with him, because I I figured I should be smart enough to be able to think up a better riding alternative, and now that chance has passed. So much for being smart...

So for Tank - I'd appreciate it if you have any pics of your 4 legged pals and your trucks (or non-trucks) that you wouldn't mind posting.

Thanks everyone - I'm feeling a lot less than my avatar namesake for some reason now...

I am so sorry for your loss, he was a family member..

This is Spunky and Levi, 3 yr old Maltese brothers..
They allow us to live with them and to take care of them..
There is a reason his name is Spunky.
The runt and the largest of the litter and the last 2 of the litter.
We couldn't separate them and took them both..

Thanks for the posts and pics! Good looking companions all!

Bryce - Anni looking at the window controller and then you reminds me of Tank - look at his food dish on the counter, then me, then food dish, then me. "What is it Bub? What do you want?" Tank - <big sigh> - LOOK at food dish, then me, LOOK at food dish, then me. It's amazing how they can communicate if we just pay attention.

We did find out late yesterday that Tank had Gastric Lymphoma. A rare, fast growing cancer and we were told that if found very early, canines usually only last for another 6 months past diagnosis. Not sure that helps us, but all least we understand the what of his illness.

Take care one and all!

Sorry for your loss @TN Rotty. Dogs truly are a part of the family. If you’re into country there’s a couple real good songs about losing good dogs. “Maggie’s Song” by Chris Stapleton and “Good Dogs” by Jameson Rodgers. Be warned, they can be tear jerkers.

Abbey sends her condolences as well.

Very sorry for your loss. I had a scare with my old guy, Bernie, a few months ago, and it reminded me to enjoy our time together. I've had him since he was six weeks old, and he's coming up on 13 years. We've been through a lot together.

Thanks to you and Abbey. I'll look up those songs after a bit & thanks for the warning. (I probably don't want to be around the office when I listen to them.) 🙂

There's a good dog movie out (Netflix) based on a true story - "Rescued by Ruby". It has the same effect on me at the end. (Happy ending in the movie.)

Thanks Brian - Bernie looks like keeper at 13 and glad he's still with you after the scare. I like the ride setup you use for him.

It's just so sad to lose a pet/companion...
Hang in there and get another one to love and bring joy into your lives...
You'll never replace Tank but it will help to mend the heart...

Thanks. We do plan on that, but have not picked the time yet. After losing our last one to a tick borne illness with a drawn out battle at trying to save her, we reflected for a few months before we started to look again and then found Tank.

As part of our loss, I'm hopeful it helps others to reflect on their companions and not let their time together pass by. It can pass by quickly.
