The new 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R is the most powerful and capable high performance off-road full-size truck to ever run in the sand and beyond, thanks to an updated 5.2-liter supercharged V8 cranking out 720 horsepower and 640 lb.-ft. of torque. The 20 horsepower increase is achieved with reduced air inlet losses coupled with an optimized calibration that also results in a wider torque curve.

The first F-150 Raptor debuted 14 years ago with 310 horsepower from a 5.4-liter V8 and 411 horsepower from an available 6.2-liter V8. Was there an issue with lack of horsepower for the previous 700hp model?
Of course not! The TRX has 702hp, so they dialed up 20hp more to top it

Similar method on how they got 500 HP out of the Dark horse (albeit N/A vs F/I) You don’t need more torque, you need more torque sustained at higher rpm (no drop off). Since torque x rpm makes more power, a broader torque curve that remains strong in the upper revs creates more horsepower when backed up by rpm. (For those wondering why HP can climb so much without any additional torque). It’s not about how much torque, it’s about how much torque at redline and in upper revs. Many engines (like the pushrod Hemi and GM 6.2 LT) fall off a cliff in the upper revs on twist, and therefore peak horsepower is not that impressive.

Even with the news of the HP bump and facelift, there are still so many ‘23s for sale that have massive mark ups. I don’t see how they will sell at those prices.
