I’m at 60k miles in my 2021 Powerboost and it’s time to change the spark plugs. I’m handy with a wrench and have done most of my own mechanic work all my life. But a quick glance under the hood on the passenger side of this motor gives me some pause. Anyone changed out their plugs themselves on a Powerboost yet? What am I in for?

I did that at 60K on 2021 platiunim power boot.I replaced 6 spark plugs and coil as well. It's too soon to do 60k. I recomend at 75k . The book manaual said change at 150k.

The owner's manual states 55k/100k.

Did you end up doing the job yourself? Did it end up being worse than you thought since all the hybrid electronics were on the passenger side?

I'm at ~47k miles (with the bed AC power), so I figure 55k is right around the corner and I should start planning the job.

Or was the job "easy enough"?

I did it myself at 60K, just plugs. Easy enough. Hardest part was reaching over to the areas, but I didn't remember anything was in the way causing issues. I'm probably due for another end of the year at 120k.

Agree with TCP. Did it myself. Replaced the coils as well. I’m short, so like TCP, hardest part was reaching to the back two plugs. Got a moving blanket and laid across it. Easily done on a Sat morning.

Which plugs did you go with? I'm looking at the NGK Ruthenium but wondering if I should just stick work Ford OE plugs?

I stuck with the Ford Motorcraft OEM plugs. Less expensive than the NGKs. Motorcraft are iridium as well. I figure as often as this truck requires plug changes, might as well save some pennies.

Out of curiosity, what was your truck’s build date and did the engine take tapered or crush washer style plugs?

Why did you change the coils?

Thanks. Did the engine run better after the change?
SP594 was the part number, tapered type. No change in running conditions, it was running fine before, hard to compare unless yours is running poorly
