2021 F150 Platinum 6.5' Powerboost
Dealership called and said Ford Tech's they were on a call with have requested they replace the "DC/DC Converter" (or is it DCDC Converter and it's already DC, why are we converting it? :p ). I'm not sure what that is, but it's being overnighted tomorrow, should arrive Wednesday, and we'll see....

2021 Platinum Powerboost 6.5” bed. Picked up 3/31/21. Didn’t make it more than 5 miles before limping it back. Issues include:
  • Total loss of power steering.
  • Total loss of power braking.
  • Notice of powertrain failure.
  • Loss of heated / cooled seats.
  • Many voltage errors and alerts.
  • Loss of A/C system.
  • Ground fault on ProPower that immediately reset.
So I guess I have an electrical disaster... dealer has had it for four days, they have no diagnosis yet.

Added screenshot to give you a taste of the pain. ?

In theory I believe you could do that, but I would not do that. :)
I feel like you guys are trying to imply that doing so is immoral or risky or something else that is not very desirable.

I’m only suggesting it for the purpose of obtaining useful information relevant to deciding if your vehicle is worth signing for.

I can’t remember what number it falls on but diddling with another man’s vehicle is against guy code.

I’m hoping to compile a list of issues that people have experienced thus far. Let’s keep it simple, 1,2,3 format and basic issue. See my example below. Hopefully this will help recognize trending issues.

2021 F-150 Lariat
3.5L EB 4x4

Dealer fixed:
1. Transfer case malfunctioning @ 800 miles
2. DS master window switch fault (one touch not working/won’t roll up or down all the way)

Needs addressed:
3. Alarm triggered randomly
4. Heated steering wheel doesn’t stay hot (10 minutes)
5. Memory seat doesn’t always adjust correctly
2021 F-150 XLT 900 km

1)Rear Axle/diff surface rust upon delivery
2)front headlights flickering-cause was wiring corrosion
3)Charging System issues-battery drain-Alternator needs replacement
4)Rust on exhaust system on delivery

Dealer is fixing the list of issues but parts are back ordered for 12 days.. truck will be down for 12-15 days

dealer providing a rental vehicle at their cost

I think I will cancel my ordered truck f150 platinum and buy a toyota. I am not going to put up with this crap after shoving out $80k for a truck.
I bought a 2017 ford focus RS and it spent 3 months in the shop getting a new engine from ford and fighting with them for it. I had another major problem with my 2013 raptor transmission that I had to fight with. I would also never order another sunroof. Cheap plastic parts cost me $2200 to repair the rollers.
Ford equals crap if this is the best they can do with all these complaints I don't need the hassle

Limited 3.5L PowerBoost. Vehicle delivered 3/4/21, current ODO is 290 miles.
  1. TCU (modem) has gone dead twice, but came back to life randomly.
  2. Dash is constantly rebooting after applying TSB 21-2097 flash update to fix the battery drain issue. Time will tell if battery drain issue is resolved, but the constantly rebooting dash is a PITA as all "My View" and gauge configurations settings revert to factory defaults. Also get multiple alerts in FordPass app every time dash reboots.
  3. "Reverse Brake Assist Not Available See Manual" error message when I put vehicle in reverse. This started happening after the TSB 21-2097 flash update.
  4. Upon starting vehicle after unlocking and driving off, passenger side mirror remained in folded close position. Caught me by surprise when I went to change lanes and checked my mirror! Was able to unfold it via the driver door armrest switch. Has only happened once.
  5. FordPass states "Unable to Locate" message. When I first got the truck FordPass was able to consistently located vehicles. May be related to flakey TCU (see #1).
UPDATE
Left truck at airport for 6 days, started right up upon return, so assuming the TSB 21-2097 flash update fixed the battery drain issue.

Also upon returning the dash is no longer rebooting, and my configured gauges stay put.

In fact, #3, #4, and #5 haven't come back since my return. And modem is still working.

All gremlins seem to have disappeared, maybe the truck just needed a good rest. I also received an OTA update, which may also have had some positive affect.

1. Lots of rust on rear end.
2. Transmission hard shifts.
3. Shifter randomly goes into park from reverse sometimes fails to go into gear.
4. Seat memory loses memory.
5. Ac won't stay in recirculate.
Think that's it.
Ok I’ve been looking for someone with this issue, my transmission is awful when slowing down causes the truck to lurch around, originally I though maybe just me getting used to truck but I don’t think that is the case. I bought a super crew 6.5’ bed 5.0L

I have a Lariat SuperCab 5.0. So for the truck has been great. Everything works and there are no squeaks, rattles or intermittent problems.

The only issues I’ve had (which were there when I picked up the truck) is rear axle rust which I’ve taken care of and driver’s side door alignment. The driver’s door is slightly lower than the rear door and it also sticks out at the bottom. I didn’t notice it when I picked up the truck. The dealer won’t do anything about it stating it’s just the way the aluminum door was stamped. I don’t believe it but I’m most likely just going to have to live with it. I did a Google search and apparently Ford’s aluminum panels are known for fitment issues.

might just be a stamping issue.
I also have a SCab and both front door are outboard of the rear, only at the bottom. The rest of the door lines up just fine.
I do have a minor misalignment at the top of the doors on the passenger side. The alignment is a bit off height wise like one of the doors is not quite plumb, but only at the very top, verticals alignment everywhere else is just fine.
the push out on the bottoms of my doors is not really noticeable unless you scan down the side from the rear, but once I realized it was there, I see it all the time, but not too concerned about it.
Truck is dead nuts quiet at 80, so I’m okay.

Well, you asked for it:

Dealer fixed: 0 Important to note, not their fault, dealer techs were unable to find resolutions with Ford and the engineers after two service appointments.

1: XM Hardware Fault
2: Vision system camera fault
3: Private Comm network fault
4: Left/Right mirror heater output fault
5: Battery voltage fault
6: "Reverse Brake Assist Not Available" error message
7: Recirculation on climate control randomly shuts off after a few minutes
8: Air flow through dash vents poor to non-existent if deftrost and/or floor is also selected
9: Body panel fitment poor at: tailgate, hood
10: Rear bumper offset from rear quarter panels
11: Engine has started to make excessive noise (growl/gravely) intermittently; performance is reduced when this occurs
12: Lane departure system has failed randomly
13: Center screen gets very hot, up to 123 degrees when I measured it with a thermal-imaging camera
14: Digital speedometer and dial gauge speedo are off 2 MPH from one another
15: Center screen icons (icons only, not the text) all went black today....

I have a case filed with Ford and one of their support specialists is supposed to be getting ahold of me this week (after a week delay).
F150 Platinum Coyote engine, 4,000.00 km. I traded in a 2018 2.7 Lariat which I loved and did not have a single issue. This truck is unbelievable in comfort and features but:
-XM occasionally will not play and says hardware problem
- last night one of the auto folding mirrors did not come back out
- two nights ago the running boards stayed out after locking
- there are a lot of these small random issues popping up
- lots of rust underneath but told "no worries, just surface rust
- paying this much money for a truck and no rear wheel well covers?? its an option

I had a sensor issue with my truck the week after I bought it. My dealer found the part the was broken, and when they went to order the part didn’t exist in the catalog.

Long story short I got tired of waiting for the parts department at Dearborn to get back with my dealer.

I tweeted at ford and told them their new trucks sucked. I had a response within 30 mins, and a call from the customer care team at Ford the same day. Told them it has been 2 weeks and my tuck wasn’t fixed and I wanted a buyback. With the next 24 hours the parts to fix my truck we’re overnighted.

Light a fire under them if you aren’t getting what you need. Shouldn’t have to wait weeks for a new truck.
egads... I've survived this long avoiding Twitter. Is this what I need to stoop to in order to get customer service for my $75k truck?

1) Rear window rattles like hell when it's open
2) Moon roof (rear panel) rubber surround isn't installed properly - May have to replace the whole thing
3) Bed isn't on straight - it's about 1/2 inch farther to the passenger side of the truck
4) Rust on rear axle and exhaust hangers (Fixed this myself)
5) Trailer mirror on drivers side not folding the whole way out. Happened twice but can't replicate
6) Seat memory button on door doesn't save lumbar settings - I've found that erasing my profile and starting a new one saves it.
7) Gas mileage is no where near advertised. Best I have ever done is 18 MPG if I baby it.

For all those mentioning the panel stamping. I see lots of small imperfections in the body panels. Small rolls at the edges, unfinished edges and excess weld on the roof channel, etc. I will just say that the fit/finish of the exterior doesn't compare to even even my wife's Subaru let alone the German cars that I have been buying for years. The depth of the paint appearance lacks as well. It's almost like they forgot to finish some parts of the truck.

Unfortunately that's what it took for me to get an actual response from Ford corporate.

I didn’t know this thread existed so I created my own ...oops.

to rehash my issue:

1. rust on rear axle ( going to clean myself) I know Ford should do it on principle but I feel like I’ll do a better job, take my time and do it right.

2. on my 200 mile drive home hit the max AC button and check engine light came on and no cold air. It turns out they punctured the lines when building the truck. It’s covered under warranty but the parts are backordered. So I’m driving around on a truck with a check engine light and no AC.

Of course with this being my first Ford my friends and family have all the jokes lined up.

Update:

Still waiting on the parts that were back ordered and now I get this..

Unfortunately I am out of country for the next couple of months so I told the wife to just drop it off at the dealership until they can fix both problems. I love driving this truck but man this is starting to get to me.

How did you clear your seat memory settings? Or are you talking about the driver profiles that can be set through the Sync screen? I'm trying to clear my seat memory settings and haven't found a good way to do it yet. Because my truck is a powerboost, unplugging the battery has not worked - there is a secondary 12V battery that saves settings during power loss.
