HSW works on 8 inch screen with no hardware button.
Thanks John for the note-

it can definitely work on the 8” screen you just have to mess with the APIM settings a fair bit, I had to change my truck to pretend like it’s a super duty (APIM) as well as enable heated and cooled seats (APIM) and all of a sudden it worked! Keep in mind I have never had an OTA update since 2021 though

you also have to make the changes to HSW in the SCCM as per all the other guidance

I now have a couple of weird settings like ‘turn on cooled seats at startup’ but other that that it works perfect
Thank you for your helped. Worked great. But my screen looks a little different.

TSB from Ford on the HSW and some pictures I have.
Brown plug from the steering wheel plugs on the front side of the SSCM
Gray plug on the back side of the steering wheel - this is your ground and BCM power

The SSCM you bought need to have the pins for both these plugs front and back side.

Most people buy the whole assembly so they know the pins are there.

OK, so I got everything working-at least, until I installed the HVAC controls (model ML3Z 19980K). Most of the buttons on the control unit don't work. I loaded the AB settings for the ACIM and SCCM modules, but it didn't help. Can someone point me in the direction I need to go to get the controls working? TIA

Did you load the you old HVAC and make the changes from the forscan sheet after?

I did load the old HVAC, but don't know which codes to change.

+1 more successful install on my 22' XLT 302a. Easy to knock out since I had my dash torn apart to do my ambient lighting.

Only thing not verified is coming on with remote start but I gotta awhile before I have to worry about it.

Attaching these here in case anyone is doing an aftermarket heated wheel to use for reference.

Replying back to this - I was able to get ahold of Mouser and sort out which connector and terminals I needed to build the harness for an aftermarket heated steering wheel. Parts should be here this week. I'll update once I dive back in. I've got the paddles and LED display on the steering wheel working properly, just need to get the heated portion setup. :)

23 F150 SCrew, Lariat, 6.5' bed,
So, if I have this black and Blue/tan wire to the grey connector at the back of the SCCM, I should have power and ground to the new SCCM, correct?

Also, do I need to get the whole Steering Column Module or just the clock spring?
- The Part list from the Upgade 22G06 says to get the whole module, PL3Z-3F791-AB, but the part list here shows just the clock spring, ml3z14a664b

You do have the wiring for the HSW.

Most have replaced the whole assembly - easier in my opinion.

I am assembling all the gear to complete this upgrade on a 22 302a base. I have a few questions based on the 91 pages of Info

1. ML3Z 3600 RA Steering wheel. I assume if I change the radar button pad to my stock buttons I don't need to edit the coding apim 7D0-09-01 xxxx-xxxx-x*-- to add a 4?

2.when i build my wiring harness with wpt-404 that connects to the sccm and wt-1030(new part number as old 1 is no longer used) connector that connects to pin 15 of bcm. I will need to splice the 2 wires together wpt-404 and wt-1030 with additional wire as the parts look 2 short to reach? Seems 18 Guage or better will work?

Thanks for everyone's help. Just trying to price allot of info together:)

The following is contributed by Scott Maxson on the forum on XLT302A retrofit.

After looking at the nearly 80 pages of the Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit. I found no concise XLT install steps. Below is what I did for my XLT 302A 5.0 FX4 after reviewing the Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit forum and Livnitup's FORScan - 2021-23 F150 spreadsheets.
If you find it appropriate you could add this to the list on page one of the Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit forum.
_____________________________________________________________________________________
HSW Changes for XLT 302A
Parts

OEM Heated Steering Wheel: ML3Z-3600-RA or equivalent after market wheel.
OEM Steering Column Control Module (SCCM): ML3Z-3F791-BB
OEM replacement steering wheel bolt (new, never installed): W721079-S437
Harness from jscaro

* HVAC hardware button solution not known for XLT. Soft screen switch needed to make HSW work for XLT enabling Super Duty climate side card.

1. Using FORScan back up all AsBuilt modules (SCCM, APIM, IPC and HVAC minimum) prior to installing parts.
2. Once heated steering wheel, new SCCM and power wire installation is complete.
3. Restored the SCCM saved (AsBuilt) settings to the new SCCM
4. Enabled heated steering wheel in SCCM, APIM, IPC and HVAC with FORScan tool

I started with the 501A steps...

Used these for my XLT 302A 5.0 V8 FX4 with 360 camera and rear window defrost.

APIM 7D0-02-01 xxxx *xxx xx-- change '1' to '5' - CFZ dual zone / SA enable / RC No / HSW available
APIM 7D0-02-02 x*xx xxxx xx-- change '4' to '6' - CAHSW enable / MD on / FDZDLB dual button
APIM 7D0-03-02 **xx xxxx xx-- set to “10” super duty
HVAC 733-01-02 xxx* xxxx xx-- change 1 to 9 - HSW yes / HW no / BPC no / FI yes
IPC 720-05-02 *xxx xx-- change 2 to 3 - HC disable / H enable / HSW enable
SCCM 724-01-01 xxxx *xxx change '0' to '8'- enable HSW
SCCM 724-03-01 x*xx xxxx set LH steering wheel switch SWSLHC to '2' match your switch type (mine had Lane Keep, Lariat has Adaptive Cruise)
SCCM 724-06-01 *xxx xxxx “B” 35 degrees C (typical factory setting)
SCCM 724-06-01 x*xx xxxx “0” no HSW timeout (always on)

If you want HSW on remote start, make these changes at....

APIM 7D0-09-01 xxxx-xxxx-x*-- add '4 bit' to what's there RSSW enabled
IPC 720-02-02 xxxx-x*-- add '4 bit' to what's there RSSW enabled

Stop here and backup module changes

Power cycle truck and test HSW and heated seats .
Your guide was super helpful and was a huge part of my successful install.
It's also worth noteing to review your own forscan coding before moving forward. Many of my codes were very different. In forscan my truck shows as not having heated seats(it does). Best to leave the truck thinking that way.
Also pay very close attention to the power cable where it joins into the bcm. Make sure the connector is fully seated.
Also as mentioned in a few posts Tesa 51608 tape is ideal for covering your new wires and give a nice finished look.
So happy with the finished product...thx again 2022 xlt 2.7l Sport 302a/ software hsw button
