Asking if anyone has placed an order for a 2024 with Tow/Haul Package (53T) AND optional Max Tow axle code (XL5) OR (XL7)?

If yes to both, please post your order status (e.g. order confirmed; VIN assigned; build-date scheduled; etc).and update here if it changes.

I'm curious to know if trucks with this specific combination of order codes are actually being built.

Thanks In Advance!

probably too much to ask but please stay strictly on topic, we don't need discussion here of the pros/cons of ordering optional axle code XL5 / XL7 ;)

Build just got scheduled today for week of 29 April...

I wonder what the difference is between the XL6 and XL7. Or the difference between XL5 and XL9.
Since both are 3.73, is one electronically locking (XL6) and the other just a plain old limited slip (XL7)?

Thanks all, since making my post here I've gotten window stickers for two vehicles with Max Tow on the other forum (attached).

Question asked and answered.

I wonder what the difference is between the XL6 and XL7. Or the difference between XL5 and XL9.

Entering the VINs from the attached window stickers in FordParts.com with the search 'rear axle' reveals it is the 3/4-float axle as in previous years

3/4-float is the difference between XL5 / XL7 and all others which are semi-floating axles.

Just to make sure I understand correctly, the XL5 and XL7 axels are the same as the ones that have been braking?

XL5 and XL7 are apparently "3/4-float" axles as are the Max Tow axles that have suffered the broken bolt.

BUT, IMO we cannot say they are the exact same parts as previous years - there may be differences of some sort not revealed by anything shown above.

I'm being very careful to not overreach or assume anything here.

What's strange to me is that the 2024 towing guide makes no reference to the axle type whatsoever, just the 53T tow package and the ratio.

Agree - IMO that's a conspicuous and puzzling omission, particularly given the Order Guide language relating to achieving maximum tow capacity.

I know, the order guide made such a big deal out of it.

I also would love to know why the powerboost tow rating went from 12,300lbs to 11,000lbs (157") with a 500-lb INCREASE to GVWR and the same GCWR.

I haven't been able find the difference...I dug thru numerous prelim and real-time published specs for the MY24 and haven't found anything yet.

My truck comes standard with the 53T (Tow/Haul Package), and also comes standard with an E-Locking 3.55. The XL5 option is also an E-Locking 3.55, and can only be had if you have the 53T. I opted for it in the beginning even though I couldn't find any real distinction...although there must be something that sets it apart.

The combination of 53T & XL5 (or XL7) would logically steer me to the conclusion that the truck has the capability to perform at the maximum loaded trailer weight for the 53T spec when the rear axle is e-locked. However; if this is the case, what prevents someone from locking their axle with the standard (default) E-locking axle and towing at the max capacity?...doesn't make sense

Unless your order spec and window sticker specifically state "3.xx MAX TOW E-LOCK REAR AXLE" I suspect you have the XL9 3:55 Electronic-Locking rear axle (semi-floating type).

Per the order guide that will not yield "maximum trailer tow capability". It has nothing to do with E-Locking, everything to do with a different axle design (3/4-float type) which happens to have ratios and E-locking in common with the semi-floating axles,

Note, too, that in previous years the Max Tow 3/4-float axle includes larger brake rotors (not available on any semi-floating axle), which bears on the trailer tow rating; IMO that likely continues for 2024.

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my post - the base KR comes standard with a 3.55 E-locking axle (not sure the option, just going by the order description); however, I opted for the XL5 3.55 E-locking axle. My point is that both are E-locking axles, and the truck comes standard with the 53T (Tow/Haul Package)...and the Ford Tow literature only mentions the 53T option as a factor for towing capacities.

I agree with you that the MY24 with Tow/Haul & XL5 probably has the same or similar upgraded brakes as prior. I had ordered my prior 2017 SCrew with the Max Tow Package and upgraded/locking rear axle...which had the larger disks (and heavier bumper, hitch, etc).

EDIT: Just went back and looked at the Job 1 Order Guide - the 53T Tow/Haul comes standard with either the 3.55 (XL9) or the 3.73 (XL6) depending on engine. I still can't find anything that spells out exactly what XL5 or XL7 includes...although I suspect it is the larger rear brake rotor and few other things similar to prior years.

How long ago did you submit your order? And don’t know what your priority code was?
