Haha I got a pretty good kick out of that. Actually that exact thought popped into my head.

On the bright side this redo gives me a chance to add tow mirrors.

Also if you’re in TX I can’t recommend Jorge Lopez at Tomball Ford near enough. Dude has been amazing with my initial order back in Mar and now taking care of me after this disaster. Great no BS guy who shoots you straight and doesn’t play games. He’s got himself a return customer going forward.

I’ve also had great service at Tomball Ford over the years.

I would bet the trailer had a sticking brake and caught fire. The motor carrier should have insurance to cover the loss. The worse thing is starting over.

Having my truck shipped from TX where I bought and registered it to CA where I’m currently stationed. Caught fire somehow this morning on the transport, a week after I bought it. I have no idea what I’m going to do now. I had been lucky getting the order through in ~2 months and threaded the needle with all of the KC shutdowns. Here are the before and after pictures.
No clue what I’m going to do now

Will the transport company make good on it?

Haha oh wow, thanks for sharing. How do y’all like the special edition smoked antimatter blue?
There were some clerical issues with the trucker’s insurance even though it was current. USAA wound up taking over which I’m extremely grateful for. I have a rider with them where I pay a little extra on my insurance bill and get an extra 20% on top of the value of a vehicle if it’s ever totaled. So on this I made an extra 20% on MSRP.
Never got a police report or anything so still don’t have a root cause but I’m still assuming it was the trailer brakes.
My replacement truck is currently on its way to the dealer, in temple this morning on its way to Tomball. Not counting any chickens before they’re hatched but starting to get excited to go pick it up. Definitely gonna be driving it back myself this go round. I originally regretted not getting the tow mirrors which I was able to do on the replacement.
I still have one of the keys the other burned in the truck, or at least that’s what I was told.
I’ll update once I get the new truck.

Oh and I should use this opportunity to plug Jorge Lopez at Tomball Ford. The reorder went through at the height of the chip shortage when everyone was selling at MSRP minimum if not over. Jorge honored our original deal we had made on the first truck plus the price of the mirrors. If you need a Ford and you’re in SE TX give him a call.
