  2. Regular Cab Overland Build - Where to Begin?

My suggestions that work for me and our overland group so far, research first then : Safety, reliability, performance then fun stuff. 1. Min required: first aid kit, fire extinguisher, recovery points, static recovery strap 20', shackles bow or soft, tools, air down air up compressor, handheld...
  3. Custom Built Adventure Package

Nice. They make netting that goes over the top of the door so you can open the windows for ventilation but keep mosquitos out. Just try and find the big ones for our doors/windows. Not sure if the covers you made will do that already. Lots of great options to make it all work. Yeh...
  4. Rain solutions ? I'm using a 12x10 canopy off the tailgate cooking area. I like Kelty products too.

Yes I have tarps, kit, trekking poles. etc. I'm still not good at tarp setups. PITA to me. Not many trees in the desert too. Works in Sierras and southern Utah. My buddy uses a Kelty Waypoint tarp in the other pic on his Cherokee, comes with a pole. Nice. They have some other nice systems...
  5. Rain solutions ? I'm using a 12x10 canopy off the tailgate cooking area. I like Kelty products too.

  8. Control Arm and Ball Joint Bushings worn out

Thanks for posting. Yeh I keep bending my brackets and will prob need to bend back and weld in a gusset at some point. And replace bushings or whole LCA as a unit. But still rides, and wheels, fine for now. Passenger side bent in but still articulates ok: Drivers side still looks good:
  9. Using the Trans for Engine Braking?

EricR Power Beast etc I feel like an idiot, I never thought to use cruise control on a downhill road descent to reduce speed. Can't wait to try it now. I have adaptive cruise but rarely use it, or turned most of the lane assist stuff off. Not very good. I still seem to engage the collision...
  10. List any aftermarket hub centric wheels with correct 87.10 mm center bore for our trucks ? No centering rings required ???

Anyone know some other wheels that are correct center bore for our hub centric system of 87.10 mm and don't require centering rings? I hate centering rings, they just seems wrong to me. Without them you can get hideous vibrations that ruin everything. With them a weaker system and a pain in the...
  11. Using the Trans for Engine Braking?

Great discussion. I don't use it locally or daily. Still learning, but been using it more and more often on overland trips on long steep road descents to prevent overheating front brakes. ie 2H M3 ie High Sierras, Death Valley, San Bernadino's I hate hot spots, warped rotors, chatter under...

  13. Trip: 10 rigs, 5 days to Eastern Sierras, Bristlecone Pines, Coyote Flats, Virginia Lakes, Kavanaugh Ridge, Bodie Ghost town.

Nice. Someone mentioned a trail called something Gordo up there, Cerro Gordo sounds right. I think the more experienced guys did it before. I try to stay on the 6/10, non pucker trails, but we seem to end up with enough pucker up spots every once in a while. We may do part of that on our next...
  14. What can I use the 120v power for in the field?

Yep. All I wanted was to run a coffee maker. No joy. LOL I occasionally use it to recharge battery operated stuff, handheld ham or gmrs radio, porter cable impact wrench, Milwaukee tire pump. Usually If I forgot to before I went on an "overlanding", (offroad car camping) trip. I think the...

  19. Let's see your tent setups ⛺️

Love all the posts ! I've been happy using dome ground tents for years. LOL Like the light weight, ease of use, low cost and low center of gravity on the trail. Bunch of our group use Gazelles T4 etc, RTT's and trailers. All good. Also If we setup camp for more than 1 night then go wheeling...
