Dealers cannot charge more than $100 for doc fees if using xplan. Just print out the xplan rules at the same website you got your PIN number and show it to the dealer. My dealer charged me $0 doc fees last time I used xplan.
X plan rules is not over 100.00 you sign a paper to that effect. Do not sign blank papers. My dealer charges $75.

On the x plan site under rules it clearly states not over 100.00 My dealer charged 75.00. When doing the paperwork you have to sign what the dealership fees are. I had a virginia dealer tell me 700.00 I walked out
I just did the xplan and it was $75.

2 Xplan Quotes from dealers less than 10 miles apart in Houston, Texas. Platinums, only difference in vehicles is one has locking storage compartment. One dealer added $690 for wheel lug locks, tire nitrogen, tint and spray in liner I didn’t ask for. Rebate difference is one included Ford finance rebate.

My understanding is that A/Z/D/X-Plan pricing is set by Ford, and dealers cannot vary from those set prices and related admin fees. Appears these two dealers were in-line there.

What is surprising are the "rebates" applied by each dealer - $2600 vs $3600. My understanding is that any applicable rebates are based on where you live (not where the dealer is located), so I would have expected both rebate amounts to be the same.

Assuming the dealer with the $2600 rebate is offering a "financing" rebate (in my area this is evidently only $1900)... What is the $3600 rebate for?

$2000 Ford offer, $1000 Ford financing, $500 F series rebate, $100 Drive assist package rebate, Last sentence in post said only one applied financing rebate. They both would be the same at $3,600 when applying all rebates to either deal. just different fees.

I reached out to ford corporate on the ‘contact us’ page on the A/Z plan website and got the following response:

Dealers are permitted to assess up to $75 in document fees on each delivery to an eligible purchaser under the terms of the Plan, unless otherwise provided by state or local laws or regulation. Each dealer is responsible for complying with applicable laws or regulations. North Carolina is different from other states in regard to document fees. In North Carolina, Ford cannot require the dealer to cap the doc fee at $75. Ford also cannot require the dealer to take the difference from the commission they receive from Ford.

it looks like the plan rules don’t apply in NC due to state laws. Wish I knew this beforehand so I could have ordered from a dealer in another state (I’m only a few hours from SC). That’s $500+ out of my pocket I didn’t need to pay, but lesson learned. I hope my experience helps anyone else with similar issues, please review your state laws and use the contact function on your ford plan website to see what fees apply.
