Ummm, there's more to a filter than just micron rating.
In fact, flow is a very important aspect as well, and arguably is in opposition to filtration.
Too much of either negatively affects the other.

I'm not saying that the Motorcraft is the be all and end all, but it's actually a Purolator filter and regarded as much better than "below average" filter.

Your comment reminds me of stories I've heard of people messing up their home air conditioners by using air filters that add too much restriction in the name of filtering out air particulates.

What very few people understand is that a oil filter (as with fuel and air filters) is least effective when brand new and before any loading of the filter media has taken place. Changing filters too soon is not good for the engine's components.
