They aren’t needed after assembly, just helps them align at the factory. Once the arm is on the splines and tight, it’s done. Just leave them out for that .000003 oz weight savings. You will have no problem getting them on correctly if you ever remove the arms because you will have more than 8 seconds to do it.
p.s. I wouldn’t be surprised if the assembly line was supposed to remove them after install. Some guy on second shift is like, “where are all the dang shims?”
