unknown. could have been from using 4WD on higher-traction surfaces when I didn't need to. expensive lesson learned perhaps? I now only use 4WD on snow, mud, and sand. Never on dirt or gravel roads unless it's steep and technical.
Hey I noticed my auto start stop is gone now too on my '21. Is there a way to test at home without going to the dealer?
Also—I'm about to hook up a winch with 5/16th terminal connectors. Where should I mount those? There aren't obvious connection points on the post adaptors. I've never hooked...
To avoid @DT400 's concern, couldn't you just always winch off a snatch block in front and double back to your other hitch receiver? Shouldn't that put equal force on both sides? I want to do this after installing a hitch receiver mounted below the bumper and regretting it. Don't want to mess...
Ok so it is possible to remove the non-active air dam (the permanent one above the active one) without removing the bumper. But I had to get creative to access the bolts behind the license plate area.
If you cut out the flimsy piece of plastic below the license plate that covers up the top of...
@M4X how on earth did you remove the nuts behind the license plate area? I got all the others, took about 3 hours just to get those.
Feeling like a fool for not just taking the bumper off to begin with. Now I'm like 5 hours cumulatively into this job, so dumb, but I'm not trimming this thing...
Tow mirrors look good and that's a backup, but they're expensive and it's easy to come by the 13th gen OEM mirrors used for $100 or less.
Is the fit issue just with the pins, or is the 13th gen mirror shape not going to fit a 14th gen? If the former could a pin adaptor work...
@Swags was right; it was a failed CV joint. When turning the wheel from full lock the shaft would pop about an inch from the edge to the center of the joint. This jump is what made the sound. Replaced CV axles and the sound went away; case closed.
mine started throwing the "pro power service soon" warning not long after running a hairdryer out of the cab to unfreeze latches to my canopy in subzero idaho temps. in the dealership tonight, pray for her boys. feels like my baby is in surgery.
Hey has anyone tried putting 13th gen mirrors on 14th gen truck?
New mirrors look like limp wrist; old mirrors look like flexed bicep. Our trucks would all look way better if we could swap 😎
I started getting this notice two days ago after a week of cold weather in Idaho. I have the 2kw pro power and use it all the time, so it's definitely a bummer to be without it. I have a dealer appointment in a few weeks. Any tips on what to ask for? I should be under warranty (year 1, 15k miles).
Thanks but it's not like the clicking noise that usually accompanies bad cv joints, it's a dull and broad pop that you can feel in the vehicle. It happens when I turn the wheel from drivers side crank back to middle. Passenger back to middle no pop.
I have a loud pop coming from the drivers side wheel well when returning the steering wheel from full lock at low speeds.
13k miles on '21 F150 XL 4WD
Issue started a few weeks after installing '15-20' Fox 2.0 coilovers, also coincided with the arrival of cold weather. Suppose it's about 2.5"...
so you found that wire and then interspersed another wire between the cap wire and the engine bay wire? I'm assuming the cap wire wasn't long enough to reach to the engine bay.
anyone in club supercab got recs on a canopy? I like the supercab look without a canopy just because of the dimensions and geometry; but I'll likely need one in the near future, so I'm looking for recs on what might pair best with these trucks and their shape.
Looking at the ranch fiberglass...
Thanks @ryanc111 - I found these from a brand called Roadmaster - is that what you're referring to? Can you elaborate on why you're happier with the RAS than airbags? Is it ride feel, performance, peace of mind for maintenance / set and forget, or a combination?
Edit: also - if I noticed that...
In case folks are curious about lightweight campers that won't blow your load on PB's, check out GoFastCampers out of Belgrade, MT. All-American made, ~300lbs, wedge-pop camper that you can stand up in. Low-profile too, and cheaper than a FWC project M.
FWIW mine is a 2kw pro power Ecoboost...
I'm dealing with a similar issue trying to charge a portable battery with the 2kw pro power. My guess, based on reading some forums, is that the F150 will throw a GFI and shut off whenever it's plugged into something else that also is designed to detect ground faults and shut off (e.g. some home...
