What you're describing is the "Approach Lighting" feature which can be disabled through the Settings menu. I turned mine off (in conjunction with my power running boards) because it was annoying to have the power running boards/lights deploy any time I walked near the truck.

I have had Eco Idle enabled on mine for a while now, but mine still stumbles when sitting at lights/etc. in drive. Eco Idle certainly helps when the truck is in park to prevent the stumble though.

Your description of the sound is a bit vague, so I'm guessing you're talking about the whirring/high pitch whistle? I've come to assume that noise is the electric motor/powertrain. The electric motor is pretty much always spinning as long as the transmission is in gear and the vehicle is moving.
