I have no intention of copying your product. If anything, I'll probably be a customer if Ford doesn't just replace the part under warranty. I'd rather pay you $50 than reward them for their flawed part by buying the whole assembly; only to have it fail again.
My interest is as a diy. I'll print...
That sounds similar. I think it's an exhaust heat shield.
Or the transmission is empty.
Kidding! : )
But I did read about some people receiving their truck a little low on trans fluid. I checked mine, just in case, but a dry trans sounds quite different and there's a warning light. : )
Could be an example of the heat shield noise.
I recall a few people posting about this sort of noise, especially on cold starts.
My "diagnostic" method is to get on a crawler and push things with the handle of a hammer till I find something that changes the noise … : )
Thanks, would you mind measuring the dimensions of the factory part, please?
I have the base, not the pin that broke off and disappeared.
These bird beaks indicate the dimensions I think I need to print something (or hand cut a piece of dowel, maybe.)
Thanks,
That's bad news for everyone with this absurdly complex and fragile shifter. I'm paranoid-careful about using it and I expect it will be broken by someone borrowing the truck or someone in service … all it takes is a little impatience when it takes a ridiculously long time to release from being...
Sounds like either your truck is not working properly; or your right foot. : )
My F-150 Prius can drive up four floors in a parking garage on electric … it requires "finesse" to guess just how much is there, but it's fun challenge (of sorts.)
I really wish Ford:
1) added an a "electric only"...
Find another dealer to service your Ford.
I had some transmission shifting problems and after an update and "shifter cables" (still not sure this shift-by-wire 10-spd even has cables …) it's good … not great, rarely sublime, but I agree it's crazy that Ford has this basic box in numerous...
Thanks. I saw the billet machined pin. For $50 delivered, I'm motivated to at least try to print or hand make a pin. I imagine the Ford dealer will eventually figure out this is a warranty claim – not that $50 is out of the question for a new truck, but I'd like to try the DIY solution.
I lost...
Reviving this thread. The fuel door pin, aka "fuel door release tappet" broke.
Is there an STL published for your design, please?
p.s. I spoke with the local dealer, parts, service, waited while they "hive mind" discussed … never heard of it, wanted to have me schedule a service appointment and...
Someone posted a 3D print model (STL g-code) to replace this fuel door pin (aka fuel door tappet.)
Can someone remind me where to find that 3D printable replacement, please?

You sound levelheaded and reasonable. You must be new to Internet forum sites. : )
What you've experienced is typical of the "outlier" lemon – the fabled "Friday afternoon" assembled vehicle. I've experienced the same (through customers at my old independent shop) with different manufacturers...
Update on my '21 PB with harsh shifting. I've been driving another pickup (Rivian : ) for a month, so the trusty PB has had a lot more rest. But there's always work to be done, so I drove it last week and, sad to say, some of the low speed shifting has glitches … not bad, not like it was...
Yep. Another example of someone incompetent in a job titled "product management" … that dufus is meant to make installation simple, make the video, publish the faq, answer questions posted to [email protected] … mate, you don't know how to do your job … read this thread and catch up …...
Fair enough. That kind of experience sours confidence even though you know you're the unlucky one and probably won't have that bad luck again. I bought a 2005 6.0 diesel … a notoriously unreliable engine with expensive bad habits, but I got a good one and a year when they were "getting better"...
There's an update to fix the hard shifting. It involves software and "cables" (does this trans even have a cables?)
My truck still makes shift mistakes, but it's now smooth and reliable, no need to drive cautiously waiting for the next hard shift. There's still the "turbo lag" in Eco mode...
