I sold my 2018 F150 a few months ago to Carvana for what I paid for it new....it was a crazy easy process. The numbers are falling though, when I price the same vehicle now their offer is $9,000 less.

All the more important to get the best you can for your old truck/car and cut the best deal possible on the new one. It's rare that we have both a buying opportunity and a selling opportunity at the same time, but it looks like we may well have one.

Same with me, was not ready to let my truck go until I was closer to receiving the new one. I knew what book was but they made me an offer I could not refuse.

This year worked out to be a good time to trade. Got top dollar on my trade, got new one for $1,000 below invoice and a $2500 rebate from Ford.

Very rare for the very beginning of a new MY but these are strange times.

I sold my 2018 platinum a few weeks ago on autotrader for $46k.. took less than a week. Best offer I got on trade was $41k. vroom, carvana, etc., all lowballed me bad around $30k. It was hard to price because many features/options weren't decoded right. Between that and i guess the market, trade offers were all over the place. Do your homework before trading/selling for sure.

since I was WFH anyway and don't need a vehicle until new truck comes in, it definitely made sense for me to get an additional $5k, when it only cost me $100 for autotrader listing and $100 for a detail!

I wouldn't trade unless it makes sense (money wise) and you get top dollar for your truck. It is a moving target, for sure. In Arkansas the tax on a $70,000 truck is $4,550. If I trade my Taco in for $35,000, the tax drops to $2,275. So, I would need to get $37,275 in a private sale to make up the tax difference. Every state is different and every deal is different. @libby2cm it sounds like you make the right decision.
