XLT thread, because an XLT is the very BEST way to order a F150. Everyone agrees.

Just a basic bare bones XL here but then again because most of my trucks have been company trucks, it is the basic lower trims trucks are what I have gotten used to. I actually really like the vinyl seats and simple nature of my 2014 RCLB with basic 3.7 V6 (super reliable) and light footed driving dynamics, especially with 2wd.

I could be driving a Lariat if I really wanted too but I have to pay tens of thousands of dollars in private school tuition for my kids on one income because MA schools suck so bad and then I could have traded in my Mazda CX5 and got ~ 10k for it but I gave it to my teenage daughter instead and bought the lower trim XL. I aslo like having money in the bank. 😁 I bought my 2024 super cab XL with 4,200 miles on it with the 1.9% Ford financing for $39,990 OTD and avoided the $2000 delivery fee too. Its got the 5.0 liter V8 which was what I wanted with 4WD and compared to my 2014 the technology is amazing.

I do wish I had power seats (too bad Hammerman is so far or I would be at his front door tomorrow) but I will probably visit the local junk yard and make it happen once the weather is nice out.

I like the relative lightness and utility of the XL and 0-60 in an instrumented 5.41 seconds is really impressive.

Those are the Ford steel wheels with chrome hubcaps. Makes those crappy looking OEM steel wheels look so nice. 😉 They even look like aftermarket rims and for just $90-$120, depending on where you get them, they are a bargain compared to buying new aluminum rims. You can even get them in black.

I have no desire to change out the steel wheels for now with these really nice looking hubcaps and if I bump a curb then I can just replace the hubcap and they will look new again. 😁 I also like the nice ride with the extra rubber on the 17-inch wheels. You also get better acceleration and potentially better real world gas mileage with smaller rims compared to large rims such as the 20-inch rims even if they are relatively the same static weight so long as you have a lighter tire too or tires that are apples to apples in terms of weight and rolling resistance.

I got the XLT because it was the fanciest version available in a regular cab. 301A Trimmed in Baja tan for extra exclusiveness. Unlikely to see another and not available since model year '23.

XLT is one of the best trim IMO. Lariat has a few options I do like but a lot that I do not need.

I like my trucks to be trucks, not family SUVs with a bed. Ford seems to be forcing people to buy Crew Cabs. Can’t even get a Super Cab in Lariat trim.

Mine started as an XL and working my way to a Lariat.

I have a couple of XLT vehicles, and yes, they are the sweet spot for value equation. No regrets. They are keepers.

But my special order cross country land yacht? I sometimes spend 12-15 hours in the cab. Might even cat nap in a rest area and keep on going. And it's an office on wheels. I ordered every creature comfort Ford offered and I use it all. No regrets. It's a keeper too.

What steering wheel is standard on the XLT?
Ford says "Steering Wheel - Black Urethane" under "interior features"
https://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/models/f150-xlt/
But I can't find any package or option that lists the wrapped steering wheel. Yet all XLTs that I have looked at have it.

Can sbd explain?

‘23 302a high here. Bought it 14 months ago and just rolled 96,000km. Even with the deletes has pretty well everything I need for a “work” truck that is also comfortable for 15+ hours in the seat. Anything more then that is just pure fluff in my opinion.

Per the order guide for 2025 300A has the urethane wheel and 301A/302A/303A have the wrapped wheel.

If the RCSB was offered in a XLT I'm sure I would pick that over the XL..as would many other folks. You can't even get carpet or a power seat. As all F-150's keep climbing in price I think the cost for higher trims will be out of reach for a larger percentage of 'Average' buyers and a XLT will be the most truck many will be able to afford..No matter what they would like to have.

My only complaint is how they calculate the resale value of the XLT since it can vary from a work truck to nicer than a lariat. Mine has almost every option you can get and it's trade in value is piss poor compared to a base lariat

Actually, Farley commented on truck pricing and said that there are 2 distinct customers. Basically, 1 with money and 1 without and that they haven't had a good offering for the low end customers- which I think is why the STX is a trim level by itself now. If you just need a truck, it is pretty well equipped. They disappear off the lots almost instantly since I think Ford limits production on them. A F150 STX is cheaper than a XLT Ranger since there are usually big discounts on F150's but not on Rangers. If you don't need power seats and a sunroof, a STX might even be cheaper than a Maverick in some cases.

While I do respect and love an XLT F-150, the XLT's with the upgraded packages are not good value. I always chuckle when I see an XLT with all the bells and whistle's.
They are practically the same price as a base Lariat. People seem to overlook this quite a bit.
I have been looking at exactly that in the last day, and I may as well follow your advise and go with the Lariat.
The price difference from XLT high (303A) to Lariat mid package is $2,080 more, and adds:
- ventilated seats
- rain-sensing wipers
- memory divers seat
- heated steering wheel
- power folding mirrors
- LED projector headlamps vs LED reflector
- Pro Access Tailgate
Hope I didn't miss anything, but it seems to be a lot added for $2k MSRP.

The big jump for the XLT is from mid to high package, which adds ~$5,000. If one picks XLT high, might as well go with Lariat mid.

You'll have 20" rims, which in the past, stole 40lbs. of payload and I wonder hw much that tailgate weighs?

The 'new' XLT high makes zero sense and the base lariat is chrome. It's $7100 difference for some seats and the facelift between BAP XLT 302 and BAP Lariat PBs. My 302 has auto wipers, funny they moved them to 501 now. Each year the trucks contain less and less features.
