Winter fuel drops my 5.0 V8 down to 19 MPG, and I average 20 MPG in the summer so I do see a difference with the seasons. Whether that’s “winter blend” or a result of ambient temps I have no clue…but it does go a bit lower in the cold

Broken in engine vs new engine? MPG tends to go up once the motor breaks in.

Or L/hurricane. Whatever the non-freedom unit is. 😊

My 24 hasn’t changed mileage 8k miles

What is your opinion of mileage for an engine to be considered broken in?

It depends - for a good ring seal, 100-500 miles. Truly broken in, 5kish.

I guess it also depends on how you break it in - soft and gentle, or 'fuck it, send it'. I tend to do the latter; I WOT'd the day I got my truck, and tuned it less than a week later @ 500 miles-ish.

None of this is scientific, and I don't tend to keep my vehicles long-term, so take that with a grain of salt. My built WRX motor (forged pistons, rods, crank, bigger turbo, FMIC and other supporting mods) was run hard from first start to 60k miles (I sold it eventually) with no issues and surprisingly burned very little oil.

Was just curious on your method and ideology. I’ve built a few, most all back in the eighties and nineties. Had a pretty quick turbo Regal many years ago

PowerBoosts only come with 3.73 gears, so this will be the same for both trucks.
4x4 PBs have 3.73s, the 2WD models have 3.55

Fair enough, but we aren't talking about 2WDs here. Plus, they are no longer made and very few exist from the years that they were available.

A little bit less - Lariat is higher spec and therefore heavier. Take the difference in payload and divide by the vehicle weight and you'll get a rough estimate of the percentage difference.

Payload sticker is 200lbs different between the two trucks. From what I’ve read in this forum the moonroof decreases payload by about that much. Thats 200lbs of sprung weight. I wouldn’t think it would affect gas mileage by that much?

By a tiny fraction. At most half a MPG, likely less.
