I recently traded my 21 PB XLT 302a w/ fx4 package for a 24 PB 501a lariat. Non fx4 but has moonroof.

Both the 21 and the 24 have 2 inch leveling pucks. And I had the dealer swap my stock size Duratrac RT from the 21 onto the 24 as part of the deal. The only real different between the two trucks in terms of weight is that the 21 had fx4( likely not much weight added) and the 24 has a moonroof which I believe is few hundred pounds as it drops your payload.

My 21 was averaging 11.5 L/100km when I traded it in over the past month. That gets a lot lower in the summer down to 9.5 but is pretty standard the last couple years once the weather cools off to go up to 11 ish. It’s below 0 Celsius where I live the last month.

After 2 weeks with the 24 I am averaging 13.2L/100.

I find around town it doesn’t stay in electric mode nearly as long as my 21 did. Is this purely the added weight of the moonroof doing this? Did something change between 21 and 24? Are the extra electronics on the lariat draining the battery that much quicker such as 360 camera, auto heated seats heated steering wheel etc?

When I auto start it my 21 used to turn on and then once warm the engine would shut off for quite some time before coming back on. Usually a few minutes. The 24 seems to shut off and within 10 seconds the engine is back on and running.

Anyone have any thoughts?

And I know people are going to say you don’t get a truck for gas mileage and the PowerBoost gas Milage savings isn’t significant compared to the 2.7L
Or even the 3.5 the battery is just added weight. But I am curious why there may be such a different between two PowerBoost trucks?

There's nothing radically different between the trucks. They're pretty much the same so no there shouldn't be a difference between them for fuel economy.

could always be a slight change within the engine tune itself 🤷🏻

what does it show on your window stickers?

My truck got better mileage after a couple months when it was broken in, and your mileage should improve once you switch from winter blend gas.

Newer Lariat and up trucks don't have IWEs (my 2023 doesn't). The weight will also be a bit higher due to options. But those two factors combined shouldn't make a significant difference.

In the winter with my 2023 Lariat, I see 20-21 MPG which matches your 2021 numbers.

What gears did your 2021 have in it?
Not sure if 2021Powerboost models had 3.73 as well or not

Are you running winter fuel? That will be about 2+ MPG difference.
