Worth it to upgrade to 2023 Lariat high?

I currently have a 2021 platinum in black. Never really loved it over my blue 2015.

A dealer is offering me a new 2023 f150 with 502a for 64,500 in Atlas Blue Metallic (miss my blue truck). About 10k off of msrp. With the 1.9% financing.

Is it an upgrade? Will I miss anything on the platinum besides power running boards (which I hate) and massaging seats (which I don’t use)??

Check the window sticker. My 502a has power running boards - it was optional. I think they are kind of silly.

I think the Lariat is the best trim package. Everything most people would want without any of the over the top stuff.

My first Lariat from years in a Gen 12 XLT. I totally agree with the above it is all most would want without the extra fluff.

One thing you won't miss is trying to keep your black truck clean. And if you like blue, you're going to love Atlas Blue, but I'm a bit partial.

The only real difference between a Lariat and Platinum is the interior, and you are technically down grading. You might want to take an extended test drive to make sure you ok with the comfort level of the Lariat seat, I like mine, but I've also never driven a Platinum so I don't have that comparison, just recall a few individuals complaining about it.

Had to look up IWE but I'm still not sure what TOD means. Trailer on demand?

A platinum (well equipped) to a Lariat is not an upgrade, unless you really miss the color blue (seems like it). The best way to compare is to post both window stickers.

Some items were deleted on the 2023s like heated steering wheels.

man thats a tough one...what about an antimatter blue platinum? but i wouldnt call it an upgrade going from Plat to Lariat but if you dont care for the massage seats and could care less about the auto running boards, as someone mentioned in another thread, do what makes you happy. cant take money with ya knowwhatimean

A lariat is still a very nice truck compared to a platinum. other than some trim pieces only real difference is the seats/massage (if not deleted) Lariats can be had with the running boards (mine has the auto ones)

All Gen 14 4x4 Lariat and higher** have the "Torque On Demand" (TOD) transfer case with 4A setting, and beginning 2022 (or maybe beginning 2021 Job 2?) no Integrated Wheel Ends (IWE)

**I'm ignoring Tremor / Raptor which may be different (?)

XLT and lower have the "Electronic Shift On the Fly" (ESOF) transfer case without 4A but, if I'm not mistaken, with IWE on all years to current.

I have the Lariat w/ the high option, including the dumb running boards (big mud grabbers in my view). I agree with the other comments - I compared this truck to a platinum and really didn't like the extra chrome and stuff on the tailgate and the chrome grill, etc. But I did make a mistake and got black - I've had a lot of black cars and trucks and thought, hey it's my color. Never again (dirty, shows every scratch, HOT in the summer)! Either white or one of the great looking blues in the future. Suggest you also check the trucks maintenance work done and be happy with how often the oil was changed, etc., etc. Good luck!

This was the first vehicle I had with auto-running boards. I hate the obnoxious noise you get with them every time you leave somewhere, 5 months in and it still startles me sometimes. But I understand their utility if you are taking this off road. I also think that they're slow...not in general, just for me. Half the time I don't even use them as I'm jumping out of the truck before their down and taking off. But I'm an impatient person in general.

Those are fairly easy to add back in as well from what I understand. Other items to consider are your heated steering wheel, 18 speaker B&O unleashed (i think the plattys had those stock) etc. I don't know what the plattys came with stock as they were out of my price range when I was searching the used market.

Looks like its decently equipped though! Not sure I would make the trade though as it does appear to be a downgrade overall, but only you can make that decision.
