Right off the bat got offered an insanely awesome deal for an XLT 302A. No wireless charging. Not a deal breaker but thinking of DIY’s. Any thoughts, suggestions? Thinking of just buying a 5 coil pack and throwing it into the bin by the shifter, would that work?

Biggest thing in my head is making sure that the phone is secured during the ride to continuously charge. My shifter is on the column so a slightly different set-up.

In terms of a secure location I did get a magnetic phone holder off Amazon (see pic below). It’s a little clip based holder, fairly flat, clips into your vent (don’t like bulky holders), and that’s worked like a charm for a couple years on my 18” F-150. Looking forward to figuring out a wireless charger solution.

Does the Lariat/KR/Platinum have wireless charging? If so, I bet once we can get the parts they will just go right in. Wouldn't surprise me if the wiring was there.

KR, Platinum, and Limited have wireless charging, unfortunately Lariats do not.

Looking at some photos, I suspect once we can order the part we can install it on any of them. May have to do some cutting though.

I test drove a Lariat the other day and a flat pad like this seems like it will fit in the front bin: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Wireless-PowerWave-Upgraded-Fast-Charging/dp/B07THHQMHM

You might want some tape or something to keep it in place (and maybe your phone too.

But I also think it might be possible to stick a pad like that to the little plastic phone holder they include. As long as it's close enough to charge that might be a good solution.

I put a single coil wireless charger under the plastic insert thing. Works great.

I am shocked the old USB ports under there put out enough power to support wireless charging at any decent rate. The new USB-C on the '21 should be great for that solution though!
The old ports would not support the new iphone12 MagSafe charging speed. I have heard some of these chargers do not output enough power to keep the phone charged if you are using it heavily, like GPS. Until things settle out a bit, I will probably go with an Anker or apple solution that uses usb c. If you have iphone12, the apple MagSafe puck will plug into the usb c port. However, I don’t know the if the power coming from the port is enough to fast charge the iPhone 12. It would be easy to use either the apple 20 watt adapter to the Anker nano adapter in the 110 outlet To power the MagSafe puck.

Just food for thought.
