My current vehicle has wireless apple CarPlay and a vehicle hotspot. Unfortunately CarPlay is a wifi connection and device can only be connected to one wireless connection at the same time so the same phone can’t also be connected to the vehicle hotspot.

Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this limitation.

Yea if you’re not using wireless apple carplay, yes.

Thanks for the info..

So how does the LTE on the vehicle work? Do you have a plan with a wireless carrier or the vehicle manufacture?

Yea there’s a separate plan with a carrier (usually ATT)

What is the cost, after the initial period? If ATT, then pretty worthless in rural Iowa.;

It’s usually between $6 and $15 a month but for that cost why not just add more data to your phone plan and use hotspot. Especially now with 5G. The whole thing is kinda useless feature in 2021.

Yeah, the LTE within the vehicle really has no appeal to me. Unless it's unlimited for $10 a month, and even then it seems kinda of a waste for my use..

For a tech geek like myself, this is incredibly frustrating, why they couldn’t just route the CarPlay network out via the hotspot for internet access drives me mad. Every time my phone connects via wireless, everything stops working for a while until the iPhone figures out that there is no internet and fails over to 5G.
Doubly annoying as often out here in Colorado you either have good AT&T or good T-Mobile, so I often used the hotspot in my old Ford for AT&T internet.
