As I opened the door the wind blew it super hard and it opened up way more than it’s supposed to.

There’s a terrible metal bending sound when I try to open and close the door. I can only open it enough to squeeze out of the vehicle.

I’m not sure which parts but definitely some plastic things brok to pieces because I can hear them rattling in there.

Do you guys think this is something I should try to get fixed at the dealership or just go to any shop for the fix?

Anyone ever have this happened to them?

Both your fender and door will be replaced. I would go with whoever you trust to get the paint matched. I would personally have no problem with my dealer doing the work.

I was leaning more towards the dealer because I’d rather have them replace the parts than try to fix it.

The door alignment is also completely mangled. You can see it way out of place from any angle at all corners of the door.

And the window will only open about 30% then it just stops. You can hear the wind when the car is moving from the gap it has created. Such an unfortunate event. F*ckin’ wind

Paint matching shouldn’t be too big of a problem since it’s only oxford white and metallic gray, nothing fancy. Hopefully I can do this at the dealership close to my house and not the one that I bought it from.

Oof, that's a tough hit. My door whipped open yesterday too (50-70mph gusts). I didn't damage my door, but it glanced off the car next to my truck. I'm expecting her to file the claim against me tomorrow. :(

Yep, few dealers now maintain on-site full-service body shops, and even if the door is replaced rather than re-skinned that requires full bodyshop service (painting).

I'd shop for and interact directly with a competent independent body shop. They will counsel on the best method of repair.

Sorry for your woes, good luck.

Not as much as a problem as it was in 2015 when they first switched to Alum sheet metal... but make sure your repair shop has real experience in doing Aluminum sheet metal work. It doesn't make it a non-issue just because they say the will replace the door, for example. They never replace with a whole new door for sheet metal damage, then will just remove and re-skin, so they still need to know how to work with Aluminum. Ask your dealer who they use, and maybe your insurance company.

Holy crap... I would be devastated. Mine caught wind a few weeks after owning it and crush the corner on a light pole base. Best of luck getting it fixed. Did you file a claim with your insurance?

Damn sorry to hear about your door. I know the feel. I’m getting it fixed through insurance because apparently it’s going to cost around $8k CDN. Needs new door, quarter panel and hinges.

I am feeling down about it but there’s way too many people suffering real problems in the world to be too upset about this.
Plus my rental is a tiny Kia hatchback so I get a nice little break from $250 gas fill ups for a few weeks

Better plan on a few months with that rental. I had to get a rear quarter panel replaced and it took 4 months for the parts to get to the body shop.

Wow that was unexpected. What state or province are you located?
